Preview Roundups
September 20, 2015
Boston at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays squandered an opportunity to knock their magic number down on Saturday and are trying to avoid tightening up the American League East race any further. The Blue Jays attempt to maintain their cushion and earn a series win when they host the Boston Red Sox in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
Kansas City at Detroit 1:08 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals are destined to claim the American League Central -- perhaps in a matter of days -- but they are not playing their best baseball, especially late in games. The suddenly-struggling Royals look to bounce back from another extra-inning loss and salvage the finale of a three-game series against the host Detroit Tigers on Sunday.
Baltimore at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
Baltimore Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop ended Saturday’s 2-1 victory with a brilliant play in the field and has been a major factor with the bat over the last two months. Schoop looks to extend his career-high hitting streak to 13 contests as the Orioles visit the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday for the finale of their four-game series.
Chi. White Sox at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
Josh Tomlin's surprising success has been a big reason for the Cleveland Indians' ability to remain alive in the American League wild-card race. Tomlin will try to boost the Indians' chances in the rubber match of a three-game series with the visiting Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
Philadelphia at Atlanta 1:35 PM ET
Very few things have turned out right for the Atlanta Braves since the All-Star break, but a key cornerstone of the team’s future appears to have figured out things in the season’s second half. Julio Teheran aims to continue his rebound from a difficult first four months Sunday as the Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies in the finale of a three-game series matching baseball’s two worst teams.
Miami at Washington 1:35 PM ET
Bryce Harper is doing his best to give the Washington Nationals hope in the race for the National League East title with five homers in his last six games. Harper looks to add to his NL MVP resume and help the Nationals win for the seventh time in eight contests when they host the Miami Marlins on Sunday in the finale of their four-game series.
Oakland at Houston 2:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros are playing with fire in their quest to win the American League West, but at least the losing streak is over. The Astros will try to grab a series win and keep pace with the Texas Rangers in the AL West when they host the Oakland Athletics in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
LA Angels at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels have won four of their last five contests to pull within 1 1/2 games of Houston for the second American League wild-card spot, but they’ll be without their top setup man for Sunday’s series finale against the host Minnesota Twins. Joe Smith injured his left ankle prior to Saturday’s doubleheader and was unavailable as the Angels swept the Twins, who have opened their 10-game homestand with five straight losses.
Cincinnati at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
A bad season just keeps getting worse for the Milwaukee Brewers, who wrapped up a miserable three-game stretch by watching third baseman Elian Herrera leave in an ambulance during their eighth straight loss on Saturday. The Brewers look to prevent any more personnel losses and avoid their longest skid of the season Sunday, when they wrap up their three-game series with the visiting Cincinnati Reds.
St. Louis at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

The St. Louis Cardinals have clinched a playoff spot, but their once-healthy lead in the National League Central is dwindling. The Chicago Cubs hope to make another dent in their deficit in the division race when they try to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Cardinals on Sunday.

Seattle at Texas 3:05 PM ET
Adrian Beltre’s return to form has coincided directly with the Texas Rangers’ recent surge in the standings, and the veteran slugger will try to help his team to another series win when they host the Seattle Mariners in the rubber match of a three-game set Sunday. Beltre and the Rangers own a 2 1/2-game over the Houston Astros in the National League West.
Arizona at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy told reporters following the Giants’ series-opening loss to Arizona that his team probably couldn’t afford another loss, which has been a difficult chore when hosting the Diamondbacks this season. The Giants attempt to break out of an offensive funk and avoid a three-game home sweep on Sunday when they host Arizona.
San Diego at Colorado 4:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies attempt to complete a sweep when they host the National League West-rival San Diego Padres on Sunday in the finale of their three-game series. After splitting a four-game set in San Diego last week, Colorado posted a 7-4 victory in the opener before cruising past the Padres 10-2 on Saturday for its sixth win in nine contests.
Pittsburgh at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates attempt to maintain their slim lead for the first National League wild card when they visit the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday for the rubber match of their three-game series. Pittsburgh squandered a one-run lead in the seventh inning before Aramis Ramirez delivered an RBI double in the eighth to snap the 2-2 tie as the Pirates remained one game ahead of the Chicago Cubs, who occupy the second wild-card spot.
NY Yankees at NY Mets 8:08 PM ET

The New York Mets aren’t sure how many more starts they will get out of ace Matt Harvey, but they hope for something special from the right-hander in the rubber match of a three-game series with the visiting New York Yankees on Sunday. Harvey limited the Yankees to two runs over 8 2/3 innings in a win earlier this season but isn’t likely to go nearly as deep this time – he is within 8 1/3 innings of the 180-inning limit agent Scott Boras has suggested for his client.
