Kevin Youkilis 1B out for season - Thumb - 9/1/10 Youkilis will miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a muscle tear in his right thumb. He underwent successful surgery to repair the right thumb and is expected to be ready for the start of spring training next year.
Mike Cameron CF out for season - Abdominal - 9/1/10 Cameron will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair an abdominal tear. He is fully expected to be ready for spring training next season.
Dustin Pedroia 2B 15-day DL - Foot - 9/7/10 Pedroia has been placed back on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 19th, as he continues to feel the effects of a broken left foot. He underwent season-ending surgery in order to insert a screw in his fractured left foot. Pedroia should be fine for spring training next year.
Jacoby Ellsbury CF 15-day DL - Ribs - 9/1/10 Ellsbury has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after he re-fractured the rib in his back but isn't sure if he'll miss the rest of the season.

Clay Buchholz SP Prob Fri - Rest - 9/8/10 Buchholz had his scheduled start Wednesday against the Rays pushed back to Friday against the Athletics. He would have been used on three days' rest if the Sox had won Tuesday but Wakefield will now get the start.
Felix Doubront SP Out indefinitely - Pectoral - 9/8/10 Doubront has been diagnosed with a mild strain of an upper pectoral muscle but Red Sox manager Terry Francona said the injury isn't considered serious. It's not clear when Doubront will be ready to pitch again.
Junichi Tazawa RP out for season - Elbow - 6/5/10 Tazawa will miss the entire 2010 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. He is hoping to be ready for Opening Day 2011.

Gordon Beckham 2B day-to-day - Hand - 9/9/10 Beckham was not in Wednesday's lineup against the Tigers as he continues to nurse a right hand injury he sustained from getting hit by a pitch. He is now sidelined indefinitely. X-ray's taken on the hand have come back negative.

Freddy Garcia SP Ques Sun - Back - 9/8/10 Garcia was removed from his last scheduled start Wednesday against the Indians after the fourth inning due to tightness in his lower back but was able to start Tuesday against the Tigers. Unfortunately, he left Tuesday's game after just two innings because of a reoccurrence of a sore back and now remains questionable for his next scheduled start Sunday against the Royals.
Erick Threets RP out for season - Elbow - 9/3/10 Threets has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list after he tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. He is expected to require Tommy John elbow surgery and probably won't resurface until 2012.
Jake Peavy SP out for season - Back - 9/1/10 Peavy has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a detached lat muscle in his back on July 14. He is aiming to return to full health before the start of spring training next season.
J.J. Putz RP 15-day DL - Knee - 9/7/10 Putz has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 25, with tendinitis in his right knee. He expects to return from the disabled list on Thursday when eligible.
Cleveland Indians

Carlos Santana C out for season - Knee - 9/1/10 Santana has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a high grade strain of his LCL and a hyperextension of his left knee. He sustained the injury during a collision at home plate in a game against the Red Sox. Santana's surgery was a success and he should be available for the start of spring training in 2011.
Grady Sizemore CF out for season - Knee - 6/5/10 Sizemore underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee and will miss the rest of the 2010 season. He is expected to need six-to-nine months to recover.

Anthony Reyes SP 60-day DL - Elbow - 9/1/10 Reyes is unlikely to return to the majors this year after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He was shut down from his minor league rehab assignment and will most likely rest up and prepare for the opening of 2011.

Miguel Cabrera 1B day-to-day - Bicep - 9/9/10 Cabrera left Tuesday night's game against the White Sox in the sixth inning after aggravating his sore shoulder. He has been battling tendinitis in his left biceps for the last week and did not play Wednesday.
Gerald Laird C day-to-day - Back - 9/9/10 Laird did not play in Tuesday's game against the White Sox as he continues to deal with back spasms but did not get to return to the Tigers' lineup Wednesday.
Carlos Guillen LF out for season - Knee - 9/8/10 Guillen has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with internal bruising in his left knee and has been shutdown for the remainder of the season.
Danny Worth 2B out for season - Heel - 9/1/10 Worth is currently on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 4, with a bruised left heel and re-injured that heel while playing in a rehab game at Triple-A Toledo. He has since been ruled out for the rest of the season and will likely to serve as a utility infielder for the big league club next year.
Magglio Ordonez RF out for season - Ankle - 9/1/10 Ordonez is currently on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a right ankle fracture on a sliding play against the Jays. He will undergo season-ending surgery which will help stabilize the fracture. He is expected to be healthy when spring training begins next season.

Armando Galarraga SP Prob Fri - Shoulder - 9/8/10 Galarraga, who has been dealing with soreness in his right elbow, is scheduled to start Friday against the Orioles.
Joel Zumaya RP out for season - Arm - 7/24/10 Zumaya has been diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture of the olecranon and has undergone successful surgery. He will need four months of rehab which should allow him to be ready for spring training next season.
Zach Miner RP out for season - Elbow - 6/6/10 Miner underwent Tommy John surgery to repair a partial tear in his elbow and will miss the remainder of the 2010 season. The Tigers are hoping he will be ready for the beginning of the 2011 season.
Bobby Seay RP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/1/10 Seay has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to rehab from a torn rotator cuff. He hopes to avoid career-threatening surgery and might not be ready by spring of 2011.
Kansas City Royals

Billy Butler 1B day-to-day - Hand - 9/9/10 Butler took a ground ball of his right hand Tuesday against the Twins and was immediately removed after the third inning. It was revealed after the game that he suffered only a bruise. He did not play in Wednesday's game.
Willie Bloomquist RF day-to-day - Personal - 9/9/10 Bloomquist was unavailable to play Tuesday against the Twins due to a personal matter. He just got finished battling a case of food poisoning and did not play Wednesday.
Jason Kendall C out for season - Shoulder - 9/2/10 Kendall will undergo shoulder surgery for a torn right rotator cuff and will miss the rest of the season as a result. Royals' manager Ned Yost said the recovery time is eight to 10 months, but the club is hopeful he would be back by the season opener next January.
David DeJesus LF out for season - Thumb - 9/1/10 DeJesus has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing successful season-ending surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb.

Kendry Morales 1B out for season - Leg - 9/1/10 Morales will miss the remainder of the season after he fractured his lower left leg celebrating a walk-off grand slam at home plate with his teammates. He underwent surgery on June 10 and should be ready for the 2011 season.
Chris Pettit LF out for season - Shoulder - 7/5/10 Pettit is currently on the 60-day disabled list and will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Maicer Izturis SS 15-day DL - Shoulder - 9/1/10 Izturis has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 22, with inflammation in his right shoulder while trying to make a diving stop on a Mike Lowell single. There is no timetable for his return.

Scot Shields RP day-to-day - Elbow - 9/8/10 Shields left Tuesday's game against the Indians in the seventh inning due to a tight right elbow and remains questionable for his next scheduled start.
Joel Pineiro SP 15-day DL - Oblique - 9/1/10 Pineiro is currently on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique he suffered while warming up in the bullpen. He is aiming to return to the Angels' rotation by mid-September.
Minnesota Twins

Jim Thome DH day-to-day - Abdominal - 9/9/10 Thome is dealing with what is described as a mild abdominal strain. His status will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
Danny Valencia 3B day-to-day - Hamstring - 9/9/10 Valencia missed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's games against the Royals with a tight hamstring, which continues to improve, but the team wants to give him extra time to make sure he doesn't sustain a more serious injury when he returns. He might not be back until Friday.
Nick Punto 2B 15-day DL - Hamstring - 9/2/10 Punto has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 20, with a strained left hamstring. He will likely be out for a bit longer than originally expected, but will likely return at some point in September.
Justin Morneau 1B 60-day DL - Concussion - 9/3/10 Morneau has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list with post-concussion symptoms. He suffered the concussion after his head connected with Blue Jays shortstop John MacDonald's knee on a slide into second base. It looks like Morneau won't return this season since he hasn't been able to participate in a full workout with the Twins.

Scott Baker SP day-to-day - Elbow - 9/4/10 Baker left Thursday's game against the Tigers after just two innings because of pain in his right elbow. He received a cortisone shot after the game and Manager Ron Gardenhire said Baker will likely miss his next two starts.
Brian Fuentes RP day-to-day - Back - 9/9/10 Fuentes was not available to pitch Wednesday against the Royals due to lingering back stiffness. An MRI on Wednesday revealed no significant damage.
Joe Nathan RP out for season - Elbow - 6/5/10 Nathan is currently on the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from season-ending Tommy John surgery. He is hoping to be ready for the beginning of the 2011 season.
Jose Mijares RP 15-day DL - Knee - 9/7/10 Mijares is currently on the 15-day disabled list after working his way back from surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He is expected back sometime by mid September.
Ron Mahay RP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/3/10 Mahay has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list from the 15-day disabled list after deciding to undergo season-ending surgery to repair his torn right rotator cuff. He remains questionable for the start of the 2011 season.
Clay Condrey RP 60-day DL - Elbow - 7/24/10 Condrey was transferred to the 60-day disabled list from the 15-day disabled list with a strained right elbow and will undergo platelet-rich plasma therapy in hopes to avoid surgery. He is expected to be out until late October.
New York Yankees

Jorge Posada C day-to-day - Head - 9/9/10 Posada was struck in the head with a foul tip on Tuesday, and is dealing with the symptoms of a concussion. He visitied a neurologist on Wednesday and did not play against Baltimore. Posada could be back in the lineup as soon as Friday.
Nick Johnson 1B out for season - Wrist - 8/25/10 Johnson will undergo a second surgery to his right wrist which will cause him to miss the remainder of the season. He is hopeful that this second surgery will allow him to be ready for spring training next season.

Andy Pettitte SP 15-day DL - Groin - 9/3/10 Pettitte, who remains on the 15-day disabled list, is about a week ahead of schedule as he continues to recover from a left groin strain. He's a little less than two weeks from returning to the rotation.
Damaso Marte RP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/7/10 Marte has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to deal with inflammation in his shoulder. He is likely to need surgery and would likely be knocked out for 2011 if he goes under the knife, though it will depend on the type of surgery and the extent of the damage.
Alfredo Aceves RP 60-day DL - Back - 9/3/10 Aceves was transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he deals with a bulging disc in his back. He was recently scratched from a rehab appearance at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after re-aggravating his back. Aceves is headed to New York to have his back examined and might be in danger of missing the rest of the regular season if new tests reveal anything mildly serious.

Kevin Kouzmanoff 3B day-to-day - Back - 9/9/10 Kouzmanoff hasn't played since leaving Sunday's game in the fifth inning due to back spasms and missed the game Wednesday against the Mariners.
Ryan Sweeney CF out for season - Knee - 9/1/10 Sweeney has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right patella. He received platelet-rich injections in both of his knees over the All-Star break and announced he would undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee. He also not ruled out surgery for his left knee but is hoping to be 100 percent by spring training.
Eric Chavez 3B out for season - Neck - 9/7/10 Chavez has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from two bulging discs in his neck. He confirmed that he will not play again this season.
Conor Jackson LF 15 day-DL - Abdominal - 9/2/10 Jackson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and is expected to resume activity in a few weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia. He hopes to make it back with the A's this season but odds are he'll be shut down until 2011.
Adam Rosales 3B 15-day DL - Ankle - 9/9/10 Rosales has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 10, with a stress fracture in his right ankle and it is likely that his season is over.

Ben Sheets SP out for season - Elbow - 9/1/10 Sheets has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing Tommy John surgery to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He also had the flexor and pronator tendons in his elbow repaired. Sheets told reporters that he isn't sure if he will be able to pitch again.
Justin Duchscherer SP out for season - Hip - 9/1/10 Duchscherer underwent season-ending surgery on his left hip and says his rehab is going well. He's not sure when he'll be cleared to begin throwing off the mound but will not pitch again this season. He should be ready for spring training of 2011.
Jon Meloan RP out for season - Elbow - 7/2/10 Meloan has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with a ligament tear in his right elbow. He will soon undergo ligament replacement surgery, which would likely place him on the shelf for a year and perhaps longer.
Josh Outman SP 60-day DL - Elbow - 9/1/10 Outman is currently on the 60-day disabled list with continued discomfort in his surgically repaired elbow. He is coming back from Tommy John surgery and was shut down in June after he experienced some soreness. He still hopes to be a contributor for the A's in September.
Joey Devine RP 60-day DL - Elbow - 9/7/10 Devine is currently on the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from Tommy John surgery. He is hoping to get in a few games for the A's before the end of the season.

Jack Wilson SS out for season - Hand - 9/1/10 Wilson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 8, with a fractured fifth metacarpal in his right hand he suffered when he slipped in the bathroom. The team originally said he would be sidelined for six weeks, but Wilson expects it to be eight weeks, which officially ends his season.
Milton Bradley LF 15-day DL - Knee - 9/1/10 Bradley is currently on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 26, with tendinitis in his right knee. He underwent surgery to repair a lateral tear in his meniscus and could return before the end of the season, though it is highly unlikely.

Elvis Andrus SS Prob Fri - Hamstring - 9/8/10 Andrus was taken out of Saturday's game against the Twins in the fourth inning with tightness in his hamstring and hasn't played against the Blue Jays since. He will likely miss the entire four-game series said manager Ron Washington. This means he won't play until at least Friday's opener against the Yankees.
Josh Hamilton CF Out indefinitely - Ribs - 9/7/10 Hamilton bruised his ribs after slamming into the outfield wall while chasing down a Delmon Young fly ball in the third inning of Saturday's game against the Twins and did not play Monday against the Blue Jays as a result. He said he felt better but was not yet ready to return to baseball activities.
Craig Gentry CF 15-day DL - Wrist - 9/1/10 Gentry has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a broken wrist. He will be activated once he's able to pinch-run and slide freely into bases.

Cliff Lee SP Ques Sat - Back - 9/8/10 Lee complained of back discomfort after his previous start against the Royals and did not make his following scheduled start Tuesday against the Blue Jays as a result. He is expected to pitch this weekend against the Yankees. He'll either pitch on Saturday or Sunday.
Frank Francisco RP 15-day DL - Back - 9/1/10 Francisco has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his back. An MRI revealed only inflammation and no structural damage. He won't be expected back until roughly mid September.
Derek Holland SP 15-day DL - Shoulder - 7/24/10 Holland has been on the 15-day disabled list since May 31 with inflammation in his left rotator cuff and will pitch with the organization's Arizona Rookie League team before being activated by the Rangers.
Omar Beltre SP 60-Day DL - Ankle - 9/3/10 Beltre has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with a sprained ankle.
Brandon McCarthy SP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 7/30/10 McCarthy has been placed on the 60-day disabled list, retroactive to July 29, with right shoulder inflammation.
Mark Lowe RP 60-day DL - Back - 9/1/10 Lowe has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from June 15 surgery performed to repair a herniated disc in his lower back and could miss the rest of the season..
Eric Hurley SP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 7/2/10 Hurley is currently on the 60-day disabled after undergoing surgeries on a frayed labrum, his right rotator cuff, and a broken bone in his left wrist. The Rangers might simply write him off for the rest of the season.

Jesse Litsch SP out for season - Hip - 9/1/10 Litsch underwent season ending surgery after results of an MRI revealed a labral tear. He said that he could pitch with the injury, but he wanted to have the surgery now so that he would be ready for spring training next year.
Dirk Hayhurst RP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/3/10 Hayhurst is currently on the 60-day disabled list after having the fraying in his labrum surgically repaired. He is expected to return to the Blue Jays sometime in the month of September.
Dustin McGowan SP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 9/1/10 McGowan has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list with ongoing shoulder and knee issues that cost him all of 2009. He underwent surgery to repair a significant tear in his right rotator cuff on June 7 but it's not known when he will be able to return.

Tom Gorzelanny SP Out indefinitely - Hand - 9/8/10 Gorzelanny had a CT scan done on his left hand which revealed a small hairline fracture under his pinkie finger. He suffered the injury last Wednesday against the Pirates after being struck by a line drive in the third inning. He will miss at least one start, and maybe more.
John Grabow RP out for season - Knee - 9/8/10 Grabow has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list and will miss the rest of the season due to a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee. He may ultimately opt for surgery.
Angel Guzman RP out for season - Shoulder - 8/9/10 Guzman has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing successful arthroscopic surgery to repair a badly torn ligament in his right shoulder and will miss the entire 2010 season. He's hoping to be ready by the start of 2011.
Esmailin Caridad RP 60-day DL - Forearm - 9/8/10 Caridad has been transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list, retroactive to May 19, with a right elbow strain. It is unknown when he will return to the Cubs bullpen.

The original intent of the operation was to shave calcium buildup off of the joints in his shoulder but additional work was required. He may be ready to return during spring training next year.
Felipe Paulino SP 60-day DL - Shoulder - 8/19/10 Paulino has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list as he works his way back from a right rotator cuff strain.
