Preview Roundups
August 28, 2016
Baltimore at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles likely will need Kevin Gausman to do something that he has yet to accomplish this season if they wish to avoid a three-game sweep at Yankee Stadium: win a road game. With an 0-9 mark and a 5.32 ERA away from Camden Yards in 2016, Gausman looks to snap the skid on Sunday afternoon as Baltimore attempts to rein in rookie Gary Sanchez and the New York Yankees' offense.
Minnesota at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays have rediscovered their offense while the Minnesota Twins are going the extra mile to find creative methods to continue their losing ways. After erupting for 23 runs on 25 hits in the first two contests of the series, the American League East-leading Blue Jays will look to keep the offense rolling on Sunday afternoon as they vie for a sweep of the tumbling Twins.
LA Angels at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers had the opportunity to move into a tie for the second American League wild card spot on Saturday but fell short against a last-place team. The Tigers will try to bounce back and keep the pressure on the Baltimore Orioles when they host the Los Angeles Angels in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
San Diego at Miami 1:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins are trading wins and losses over their last five games and need to string some victories together to stay alive in the National League playoff race. The Marlins will try to bounce back from a shutout and stay within shouting distance of the second wild card spot when they host the San Diego Padres in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
Philadelphia at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The resurgent New York Mets aim for their first series sweep in nearly two months when they host the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set. Following a 7-16 swoon that cast doubt on the Mets' ability to stay relevant in the National League playoff chase, they've claimed six of seven games, riding a hot lineup along the way.
Colorado at Washington 1:35 PM ET
Speedy rookie Trea Turner has made himself comfortable atop the batting order for the Washington Nationals, and the trickle-down effect has aided veteran Jayson Werth, reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper and others. Turner looks to continue his good fortune on Sunday afternoon as the Nationals host the Colorado Rockies in the rubber match of their three-game series.
Seattle at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET

With seven games against the American League’s best team looming in the next two weeks, the Seattle Mariners need every win they can get to stay in the playoff picture. Seattle hopes to pick up one of those vital victories when it wraps up a four-game road series against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

Tampa Bay at Houston 2:10 PM ET
Alex Bregman produced a total of two hits in his first 10 major league games after being recalled in late July, but the former No. 2 pick overall has been a force for the Houston Astros ever since. The 22-year-old rookie is batting .326 with 17 RBIs in his last 20 games and looks to remain hot as the Astros go for a three-game sweep of the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
Pittsburgh at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates seem to have finally solved Miller Park and now set their sights on a four-game sweep against the host Milwaukee Brewers when the teams finish the set Sunday afternoon. The Pirates entered the series having lost nine straight games in Milwaukee and with an atrocious 17-64 record at the Brewers' home park since 2007.
Oakland at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals will likely be happy to close out interleague play Sunday against the visiting Oakland Athletics after splitting the first two games of the series. The Cardinals fell to 1-8 in interleague games at home this season after Oakland scored two runs in the eighth inning Saturday and held on for a 3-2 victory.
Cleveland at Texas 3:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers own the best record in the American League and their play at home has been a major factor in the success. The Rangers have matched their best home record in franchise history through 62 games with 41 wins and look to add another victory when they host the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians on Sunday in the finale of a four-game set.
Atlanta at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants enter Sunday’s home series finale against the Atlanta Braves looking to keep pace with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West, but need Madison Bumgarner to regain his ace status against baseball’s worst team. The Giants open play Sunday two games behind the Dodgers and are just 13-24 since the All-Star break, a swoon that has cost San Francisco 8 ½ games in the standings.
Cincinnati at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks look to bounce back from one of their worst losses of the season Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series against the visiting Cincinnati Reds. Scott Schebler homered twice and Joey Votto continued his hot hitting Saturday as the Reds scored nine times in the first two innings and cruised to a 13-0 victory.
Chi. Cubs at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET

Two of the top candidates for the National League MVP award go head-to-head again Sunday, when Corey Seager and the Los Angeles Dodgers host Kris Bryant and the Chicago Cubs in the finale of a three-game series. Seager blasted his 23rd home run – the most by a shortstop in Dodgers history – to help Los Angeles to a 3-2 win Saturday after Bryant’s two homers powered the Cubs to a 6-4 win in the series opener.

Kansas City at Boston 8:08 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox own the best offense in the majors and pulled out of a short funk with a convincing win on Saturday. The Red Sox will try to keep the hits coming and stay close to the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East race when they host the surging Kansas City Royals in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
