Preview Roundups
August 24, 2015
Cleveland at Chi. Cubs 2:05 PM ET
Kyle Schwarber left a lasting impression on the Cleveland Indians in mid-June, going 6-for-10 with a homer, a triple, five runs scored and four RBIs in his first taste of the majors. After joining fellow rookie Kris Bryant in a home-run hitting barrage in their last game, the young duo looks to continue the Chicago Cubs’ homer-happy ways on Monday when they host the Indians in an interleague makeup contest of the teams’ June 15 rainout.
Houston at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros still aren’t hitting very well, but the pitching is more than making up for the offensive slump. The Astros will try to take some of the pressure off their pitching staff when they visit the New York Yankees on Monday for the opener of a key three-game series.
NY Mets at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies made their intention to avoid a last-place finish known over the weekend and would like nothing more than to throw a wrench in the New York Mets’ plans to win the National League East. The Phillies attempt to continue their climb out of the division basement when they host the Mets in the opener of a four-game series on Monday.
Colorado at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
No team in baseball is happier to be home than the Atlanta Braves, who open a nine-game stand on Monday against the Colorado Rockies after going 0-7 on the road last week. The rebuilding Braves have been miserable away from Turner Field since early July, losing 22-of-24 contests in that span.
Pittsburgh at Miami 7:10 PM ET
Jung Ho Kang looks to duplicate a productive series when his Pittsburgh Pirates visit the Miami Marlins on Monday for the first of four contests. Kang, one of many hot hitters for the Pirates, went 6-for-14 with two homers and five RBIs as Pittsburgh took three of four from San Francisco to remain 3 1/2 games behind first-place St. Louis in the National League Central.
Detroit at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds have lost nine games in a row to fall into last place in the National League Central. The Reds will try to break out of that funk when they host the similarly-slumping Detroit Tigers on Monday in the makeup of a game that was rained out on June 18.
Baltimore at Kansas City 8:10 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles attempt to halt a four-game losing streak as they begin a seven-game road trip with the first of four against the American League-best Kansas City Royals on Monday. Baltimore finished 5-5 on its 10-game homestand, winning five of the first six contests before being swept of a four-game set by Minnesota.
Boston at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET

The Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox have been good for some offensive fireworks when they’ve squared off in 2015, which they’ll do Tuesday in the middle contest of a three-game set in Chicago. The teams have combined for 61 runs in five meetings this season, with Chicago holding a 3-2 lead in the season series.

Boston at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox look to take advantage of a seven-game homestand to end August and climb back into the playoff race when they host the Boston Red Sox on Monday for the first of three contests. The White Sox stand 5½ games behind Texas for the second wild-card spot in the American League after finishing a western road trip 3-4.
Oakland at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners look to continue their dominance over the visiting Oakland Athletics when the American League West rivals begin their three-game series Monday. Seattle has won seven of 10 games against Oakland this year, with Monday's contest being the first of nine remaining between the teams.
St. Louis at Arizona 10:10 PM ET
While the St. Louis Cardinals have controlled matters from the outset in the National League Central, the Arizona Diamondbacks are looking to continue their unlikely run for the top spot in the West. The Diamondbacks attempt to maintain their push in the division race when they begin a big four-game series with the visiting Cardinals on Monday.
