August 22, 2016
LA Dodgers at Cincinnati 12:35 PM ET
Following a pair of humbling losses to begin the weekend, the Los Angeles Dodgers reclaimed the form that allowed them to defeat the resurgent Cincinnati Reds nine straight times entering this series in their last time out. The Dodgers attempt to salvage a split of their four-game set with the Reds on Monday when they wrap up a seven-game road trip.
Washington at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals just finished taking three of four games in Atlanta as they continue to run away with the National League East. The interleague rival Baltimore Orioles are engaged in a much tighter race in the American League East and will try to gain some ground at the expense of the Nationals when they host the opener of a four-game, home-and-home series on Monday.
Houston at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates squandered a big opportunity over the weekend and hope to stop the sliding when they host the Houston Astros in the opener of a three-game series on Monday. The Pirates had a chance to keep pace with the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League wild card race and help put away Miami but instead dropped three in a row to the Marlins at home over the weekend.
Boston at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox have reached the final stop on their 11-game road trip and hope to keep the pressure on the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East race by picking on the team at the bottom of the division standings. The Red Sox, who sit a half-game behind the Blue Jays in the East, will visit the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday for the opener of a four-game series.
Colorado at Milwaukee 7:20 PM ET
Nolan Arenado is flexing his muscle in a bid to work his way out of a slump. Fresh off belting a pair of three-run homers, Arenado looks to continue the positive momentum as the visiting Colorado Rockies vie for their fifth win in six outings on Monday when they open a three-game series versus the Milwaukee Brewers.
Atlanta at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Arizona Diamondbacks host the Atlanta Braves on Monday, looking to improve on baseball’s second-worst home record against the team with the lowest win total in the majors. Arizona has won its last two series at Chase Field, but was victorious just three times in its last 10 sets at home, while the Braves come into Monday at 45-79 on the year after losing nine of their past 11 games.
Cleveland at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians closed out a highly successful 11-game homestand over the weekend - one during which Jose Ramirez left his mark time and time again. The red-hot Ramirez puts his MLB-best 27-game on-base streak on the line Monday as the Indians begin a seven-game road trip with the first of three against the Oakland Athletics.
NY Yankees at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
New York Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda had pitched well in four of his last five outings before Mother Nature had a hand in putting an end to his last trip to the mound. The 27-year-old Dominican will look regain his form on Monday when he visits the team with which he began his major-league career in the opener of a three-game series versus the Seattle Mariners.
Chi. Cubs at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs are favored to win their first World Series since 1908, but hardly resemble the best team in baseball at the moment as they continue their nine-game road trip with three against the San Diego Padres beginning Monday. Chicago (78-45) begin its trek by dropping two of three in Colorado with the first loss ending on a throw into the dugout and Sunday's 11-4 setback marred by four errors, including three in the Rockies' seven-run first inning.
