Preview Roundups
August 22, 2015
Cleveland at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians are proving to be quite the formidable foe for the New York Yankees despite residing on the opposite end of the spectrum in the standings. After taking the first two contests of the four-game series, the upstart Indians look to continue their recent run of good fortune against the Yankees as the clubs reconvene in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon.
Atlanta at Chi. Cubs 4:05 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs have clinched their first win in the season series against the Atlanta Braves since 2012, but they hope they aren’t done taking advantage of the Braves’ road woes yet. Chicago tries for a third straight victory Saturday against Atlanta, which has dropped 20 of its last 22 road games.

San Francisco at Pittsburgh 4:05 PM ET
Gerrit Cole appeared to be the clear front-runner for the National League Cy Young Award after notching his 14th victory on July 26, but he has not won since August rolled around. Cole attempts to halt a four-start drought and earn his first victory this month when he leads the host Pittsburgh Pirates into a matchup with the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.
Minnesota at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins still have a lot of work to do if they are to climb back into American League wild card position, but they are not going down without a fight. Minnesota, which is 12-21 since the All-Star break, tries to continue its mastery over fellow wild card hopeful Baltimore by winning its seventh straight game in the series when it visits the Orioles on Saturday in the third contest of a four-game set.
Milwaukee at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Injuries have played a big role in forcing the Washington Nationals into a battle for first place in the National League East, and the Nationals hope they have not suffered another blow as they host the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. Third baseman Yunel Escobar, hitting .305 in a breakthrough season, left Friday’s series opener after colliding with a fan while chasing a foul ball in the first inning.
Texas at Detroit 7:08 PM ET
By making plays both at the plate and in the field, Will Venable is introducing himself quite nicely to his new Texas Rangers teammates. Venable looks to continue to make a favorable impression when the Rangers play the third contest of their four-game series versus the host Detroit Tigers on Saturday.
Kansas City at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals don't have much to worry about these days, leading the American League Central by 12 1/2 games and owning a six-game bulge over the New York Yankees for best record in the AL. Kansas City, though, hopes to return to its winning ways as it tries to snap a two-game slide when it visits the suddenly hot Boston Red Sox on Saturday in the third contest of their four-game series.
LA Dodgers at Houston 7:10 PM ET
Zack Greinke vies to win his fifth straight start and ninth consecutive decision on Saturday as the Los Angeles Dodgers look to rebound from being no-hit by Mike Fiers and the host Houston Astros in the series opener. A former Cy Young Award winner, Greinke needs another strong start if the Dodgers wish to snap their season-high six-game road losing streak.
Arizona at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks are fading from the National League playoff race, but a couple more games with the struggling Cincinnati Reds might help keep hope alive for a few more days. The visiting Diamondbacks aim for a third straight victory over the Reds when the teams continue a four-game series Saturday.

Philadelphia at Miami 7:10 PM ET
After becoming the last team in the major leagues to reach 20 road wins, the visiting Philadelphia Phillies look to beat the Miami Marlins for the sixth time in seven meetings Saturday night in the third of a four-game series. The Phillies rebounded from a 9-7 setback on Thursday night with a 7-1 romp 24 hours later to win for the third time in 10 games.
NY Mets at Colorado 8:10 PM ET
The New York Mets hope for more fireworks from Yoenis Cespedes when they continue their three-game series against the host Colorado Rockies on Saturday. Cespedes put on a power display in the opener, belting three home runs - including a grand slam - and driving in seven runs while scoring five times during a 5-for-6 performance in a 14-9 triumph.
St. Louis at San Diego 8:40 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals lost the opener of a 10-game road trip and seek to rebound when they visit the San Diego Padres on Saturday. The 9-3 loss Friday trimmed St. Louis' lead to 4 1/2 games over second-place Pittsburgh in the National League Central.
Toronto at LA Angels 9:05 PM ET
American League MVP candidate Josh Donaldson increased his league-leading RBI count to 94 in the series opener and looks to help Toronto to another victory when the Blue Jays visit the Los Angeles Angels in Saturday's second contest of a three-game set. Surging Toronto cruised to a 9-2 victory in Friday's opener and has won 17 of its past 21 games.
Tampa Bay at Oakland 9:05 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays seek their third consecutive victory when they visit the Oakland Athletics for the middle contest of their three-game series Saturday. Desmond Jennings belted a solo homer and added an RBI single as Tampa Bay held on for a 2-1 triumph to improve to 3-5 on its 10-game road trip.
Chi. White Sox at Seattle 9:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox have awoken from an offensive slumber and look to continue the production in Saturday's road contest against the Seattle Mariners. Chicago has racked up 19 runs and 28 hits while winning its last two games after scoring three or fewer runs in seven of the previous eight contests.
