The Yankees vie for their seventh win in eight outings when they open a four-game series against the reeling Indians on Thursday.

The Pittsburgh Pirates own the second-best record in the National League but still face an uphill climb in their division race as they prepare to host the San Francisco Giants on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series. Pittsburgh took two of three from Arizona to improve to 41-19 at home, but they remain five games back of first-place St. Louis in the NL Central.

Arizona dropped a 4-1 decision to Pittsburgh on Wednesday and has lost five of its last seven games.

The Philadelphia Phillies begin the post-Chase Utley era when they visit the Miami Marlins on Thursday in the opener of a four-game series. Utley spent his last game in a Philadelphia uniform as a spectator, watching the Phillies avoid a sweep with a 7-4 victory over Toronto on Wednesday while waiting for a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers to be finalized.

The 20-year-old shortstop will attempt to add more heroics as the Astros go for the series victory over the visiting Rays in the finale on Thursday night.

Max Scherzer seeks to rebound from his worst outing of the season when the Washington Nationals close a three-game set against the host Colorado Rockies on Thursday. Scherzer was touched up for a season-high six runs in just three innings while losing to the San Francisco Giants on Friday.
