Miami at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

Manager Joe Maddon’s move to give his starting rotation an extra day off has paid off as Chicago Cubs starting pitchers have worked 15 straight scoreless innings in the past two games. Veteran right-hander John Lackey looks to extend that streak and put the Cubs in position to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Miami Marlins on Wednesday.

Washington at Arizona 3:40 PM ET
Bryce Harper is experiencing a terrible stretch and the Washington Nationals hope the right fielder will return to the lineup on Wednesday,  when they conclude a three-game series against the host Arizona Diamondbacks. Harper, who is batting just .123 over his last 19 games, was scratched an hour before Tuesday's 10-4 victory due to an illness.
Milwaukee at San Diego 3:40 PM ET
The Orlando Arcia era is underway in Milwaukee as the Brewers turn their attention toward the future following a flurry of trade activity earlier this week. The highly touted 21-year-old shortstop made his major league debut in the series opener and figures to be in the lineup again Wednesday when the visiting Brewers play the rubber match of their three-game set against the San Diego Padres.
Texas at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers missed out on acquiring the starting pitcher they needed at the deadline on Monday and instead loaded up on bats by bringing in Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Beltran at a high prospect cost. That plan did not work out so well in its debut, and the Rangers will try to find some runs and even the series when they visit the Baltimore Orioles in the second of a three-game set on Wednesday.
NY Mets at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The New York Mets welcomed Jay Bruce to the lineup and looked a lot like the team they want to be when they rolled over the New York Yankees on Tuesday to earn a split of the two-game series at Citi Field. The Subway Series moves across town to the Bronx on Wednesday when the Yankees play host in the opener of another two-game set.
San Francisco at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants cannot afford a road trip similar to their last one if they hope to remain atop the National League West. After losing a slugfest in the opener, San Francisco looks to bounce back Wednesday as it visits the Philadelphia Phillies for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Chi. White Sox at Detroit 7:10 PM ET
Chris Sale's last scheduled start against the Detroit Tigers was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Sale was scratched and eventually suspended for destroying the team's throwback jerseys, but gets a chance to halt the Tigers' seven-game winning streak when the visiting White Sox continue their three-game series in Detroit on Wednesday.
Minnesota at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians were counting on their pitching to carry the team to the playoffs and even made a move to bolster the staff by bringing in Andrew Miller at the trade deadline to solidify the bullpen. The American League-worst Minnesota Twins are having no trouble beating up that staff and will try to clinch a series win when they visit the Indians in the third of a four-game series on Wednesday.
Kansas City at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals hope to continue their mastery in the series when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday for the third contest of a four-game set. The Royals have won 12 of their last 13 games against Tampa Bay, including all five this season, as they try to climb back into the American League playoff chase following a rough 1-8 stretch.
Pittsburgh at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
Matt Kemp grew up a fan of the Atlanta Braves during the team’s glory days of winning five National League pennants and a World Series title in the 1990s, and the 31-year-old outfielder now is living a childhood dream of suiting up for his favorite team. Kemp and the Braves host the Pittsburgh Pirates in the middle contest of a three-game series Wednesday, one night after Kemp went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Atlanta’s 5-3 loss.
St. Louis at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
It didn't take long for the Cincinnati Reds to find a silver lining for trading away Jay Bruce. Scott Schebler, called up from the minors Tuesday to take Bruce's roster spot, slammed a walk-off three-run homer hours later for the Reds, who look to hand the visiting St. Louis Cardinals their fourth straight defeat Wednesday night.
Toronto at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays are bracing for the return of shortstop Troy Tulowitzki before the conclusion of a four-game series with the host Houston Astros. Tulowitzki suffered a chip fracture in his right thumb Sunday and manager John Gibbons said Tulowitzki might return to the lineup for Wednesday's contest.
LA Dodgers at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies are relevant in August for the first time in six years as they host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday in the middle contest of a three-game series, but the loss of sensation Trevor Story could be tough to overcome. Story leads the National League with 27 home runs - the most by a rookie shortstop in NL history - but will undergo surgery to repair a torn left thumb ligament and likely miss the rest of the season after suffering the injury Saturday.
Oakland at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics look to avoid a fifth consecutive loss when they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday for the middle contest of their three-game set. Oakland has struggled mightily on its nine-game road trip, falling to 2-5 with a 5-4 loss to Los Angeles in the series opener.
Boston at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners are striving to remain part of the American League wild-card race as they host the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday in the third contest of a four-game set. Seattle is five games behind the Red Sox for the second wild card after second baseman Robinson Cano hit a go-ahead three-run homer to cap a five-run, eighth-inning outburst in Tuesday's 5-4 victory.
