Washington at Miami 12:10 PM ET
Max Scherzer attempts to bounce back from one of his worst starts of the season when he takes the mound for the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series against the Marlins in Miami. Bryce Harper belted a pair of home runs to take over the National League lead with 29 as the Nationals leveled the series at a game apiece with a 7-2 victory Wednesday.
San Diego at NY Mets 12:10 PM ET
The New York Mets appeared on the verge of landing a new leadoff hitter by the time they took the field Thursday for the rubber match of a three-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres. However, New York general manager Sandy Alderson said after Wednesday's game that a reported deal to acquire Milwaukee's Carlos Gomez will "not transpire," leaving the Mets in search of another bat prior to Friday's trade deadline.
Detroit at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles have won a season high-tying five in a row to regain their footing in pursuit of a potential playoff spot while the Detroit Tigers are admitting entertaining offers for All-Star pitcher David Price. The Orioles look to continue their good fortune at the Tigers' expense when the clubs open a four-game series at Camden Yards on Thursday.
Atlanta at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves were extremely active off the field heading into Thursday's opener of a four-game series in the City of Brotherly Love. One day after trading closer Jonathan Papelbon to National League East rival Washington, Philadelphia agreed to send ace Cole Hamels and reliever Jake Diekman to Texas for fellow left-hander Matt Harrison and as many as five prospects, including catcher Jorge Alfaro.
Kansas City at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals are the two American League contenders making the biggest splashes in the trade market in advance of Friday’s deadline. The two clubs will get a chance to see which moves make the most immediate impact when the Blue Jays host the Royals in the opener of a four-game series on Thursday.
Chi. White Sox at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox are on the brink of returning to .500 and have starting pitching to thank for their recent surge. The White Sox will try to secure an eighth straight win when they go for a four-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox on Thursday.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates appear to be back on track after stumbling out of the gate following the All-Star break and go for their fourth consecutive victory when they open a four-game series Thursday night at the Cincinnati Reds. The Pirates amassed 18 runs in a two-game interleague sweep in Minnesota to improve to 5-1 in their past six games.
Colorado at St. Louis 7:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals may own baseball's best record, but they have endured their share of adversity as well. The Cardinals look to pick up the pieces after seeing seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday suffer a right quad strain when they open a four-game series against the visiting Colorado Rockies on Thursday.
NY Yankees at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers scored a much-needed victory over the New York Yankees on Wednesday but made a bigger splash with their off-the-field movements. The Rangers won the Cole Hamels sweepstakes by sending six players to the Philadelphia Phillies for the left-handed pitching ace and reliever Jake Diekman.
LA Angels at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros try for a three-game sweep of the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Thursday as they continue to serve notice that their turnaround season is no fluke. Houston, which averaged 104 losses over the past four seasons, prevailed 6-3 on Wednesday to move one game ahead of Los Angeles in the American League West and improve to an AL-best 35-17 at home with their sixth straight victory at Minute Maid Park.
Seattle at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The slumping Minnesota Twins aim to halt a four-game losing streak when they open a four-game series against the visiting Seattle Mariners on Thursday. Minnesota remains in possession of the American League's second wild card despite dropping eight of its last 10 games.
Chi. Cubs at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers saw one big deal fall through Wednesday night but they still might undergo a roster overhaul before they open a four-game series with the visiting Chicago Cubs on Thursday. The Brewers are expected to be active ahead of Friday’s non-waiver trading deadline after a proposed deal involving star center fielder Carlos Gomez unraveled.

Cleveland at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics open an 11-game homestand Thursday and the Cleveland Indians are glad to be away from home for the four-game series. Cleveland posted a 12-1 rout of the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday to end a seven-game homestand in which it lost the first six by a cumulative score of 37-10.
