Preview Roundups
July 27, 2015
Atlanta at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
Nick Markakis will play his 687th career game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Monday, but his first in a visiting uniform as the Atlanta Braves face the host Orioles in the opener of a three-game series. The interleague matchup returns Markakis to Baltimore, for which the outfielder hit .290 in nine seasons before signing a four-year deal with Atlanta in the offseason.
Chi. White Sox at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox played about as well as possible over the first four games of their road trip and will try to carry that momentum along when they visit the Boston Red Sox in the opener of a four-game series on Monday. The White Sox swept a four-game series from Cleveland by a combined score of 26-5 to open the trip and have won eight of their last nine away from home.
Kansas City at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
While the Cleveland Indians set up to sell at Friday’s trade deadline following a disappointing weekend, the Kansas City Royals got a jump on the market. The Royals will welcome Johnny Cueto to the bench when they visit the Indians for the start of a three-game series on Monday.
Detroit at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays look to get their offense going against one of the most inconsistent pitching staffs in the majors when they host the Detroit Tigers on Monday to begin a three-game set. The Rays have scored four or fewer runs in 13 straight contests – second most in franchise history behind a 17-game streak in 2000 – and are 3-6 since the All-Star break while scoring just 19 times.
NY Yankees at Texas 8:05 PM ET
Alex Rodriguez will celebrate his 40th birthday on Monday when the New York Yankees visit the Texas Rangers for the start of a four-game series. Rodriguez got the day off on Sunday but showed no signs of aging while blasting three home runs – each longer than 420 feet – in a win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.
Colorado at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs attempt to rebound from a sweep when they begin a three-game series against the visiting Colorado Rockies on Monday. Chicago allowed a total of 21 runs over three straight losses to Philadelphia in a set that featured a no-hitter by Phillies ace Cole Hamels.
Cincinnati at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals look to bounce back from their first loss in six contests when they host the National League Central-rival Cincinnati Reds in the opener of their three-game series Monday. Division-leading St. Louis had its five-game winning streak snapped Sunday, battling back from a 2-0 deficit before Michael Wacha served up Adonis Garcia's first career homer in the sixth inning that gave Atlanta a 3-2 triumph.
Arizona at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
Seattle's Nelson Cruz is on a tear as he attempts to record his fourth straight multi-hit performance when the Mariners host the Arizona Diamondbacks in Monday's opener of a three-game series. Cruz went 7-for-12 as Seattle took two of three from the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend and is 12-for-26 with four homers over his last six games.
Milwaukee at San Francisco 10:15 PM ET
The streaking San Francisco Giants seek their sixth consecutive victory when they begin a three-game series against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. San Francisco has won 11 of its last 12 games and swept a three-game weekend series against Oakland to move within one game of the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
