Preview Roundups
July 22, 2016
Cleveland at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
After being linked by consecutive picks in the 2011 draft, Dylan Bundy and fellow right-hander Trevor Bauer will follow each other's path once again on Friday - to the pitcher's mound. The respective third and fourth overall picks of the draft five years ago will be on display when Bundy and the Baltimore Orioles host the Cleveland Indians in the opener of their three-game series.
San Francisco at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants owned the best record in the majors at the All-Star break, but they have stumbled out of the gate with five consecutive losses to open the second half. The Giants will be looking to ace Madison Bumgarner to end the slide when they open a three-game series against the New York Yankees on Friday night.
Philadelphia at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates have good reason to believe they can make a second-half charge up the standings but they must capitalize on a soft schedule. Five of Pittsburgh's next six opponents sport sub-.500 records, starting with a three-game series against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night.
San Diego at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have dropped three of their last four contests and suddenly find themselves with a challenger breathing down their neck in the National League East. The first-place Nationals look to return to their winning ways on Friday, when they open a three-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres.
Seattle at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays are knocking on the door of first place in the American League East again as they prepare for a nine-game homestand that starts with the first of three against the Seattle Mariners on Friday. The Blue Jays scored 31 runs in five games since the All-Star break and have won three straight after a 10-4 triumph at Arizona on Wednesday.
Minnesota at Boston 7:10 PM ET
With a boatload of road games spread over the final two months of the season, the Boston Red Sox are making the most of their time at home. The streaking Red Sox look to continue their recent dominance at Fenway Park when they play the second of four straight contests against the Minnesota Twins on Friday.
Arizona at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
Joey Votto has appeared to turn the page on a disappointing first half of the season and looks to stay hot when his Cincinnati Reds host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday in the opener of a three-game set. Votto batted .252 before the All-Star break but is 11-for-20 with a pair of homers and five RBIs in six games since for the Reds, who stand last in the National League Central.
NY Mets at Miami 7:10 PM ET
The New York Mets find themselves in unfamiliar water as they are looking up at the Miami Marlins in both the National League East standings and the race for the second wild-card spot. The reigning NL champions, who trail the Marlins by 1 1/2 games, can do a little something about that as they open a three-game series in Miami on Friday.
Detroit at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Detroit right-hander Michael Fulmer is making a strong case for American League Rookie of the Year honors and looks to record his 10th victory of the season when the Tigers visit the Chicago White Sox on Friday in the second contest of a four-game set. Fulmer has a spectacular 0.69 ERA over his last 10 starts and is 7-1 during the stretch.
LA Angels at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Although they are out of contention in the American League playoff chase, the Los Angeles Angels are the hottest team in baseball as they prepare to open a three-game series at the Houston Astros on Friday night. Los Angeles is perfect since the All-Star break after completing a three-game sweep of AL West-leading Texas.
Chi. Cubs at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs appear to have their groove back, and it all begins with their starting pitching. Right-hander Jason Hammel hopes to continue that trend and keep the Cubs on track when they begin a three-game road series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.

Texas at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET

The Kansas City Royals visited the White House on Thursday to commemorate last year’s World Series crown, but they face an uphill climb to get back to the postseason. The reigning champions hope to break back above .500 and begin a second-half surge when they host the American League West-leading Texas Rangers for a three-game series beginning Friday.

LA Dodgers at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals continued their strong play at home with an impressive comeback victory that capped a four-game sweep. They look to extend their winning streak to five games when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday for the opener of a three-game set.
Atlanta at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
All-Star left-hander Julio Teheran frustrated Colorado batters Sunday and attempts to shut down them down again when the Atlanta Braves visit the Rockies on Friday. Teheran allowed just three hits in seven innings but wasn't part of the decision in Atlanta's 1-0 victory.
Tampa Bay at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
Tim Beckham is enjoying the best stretch of his career and the Tampa Bay Rays are suddenly scoring runs in bushels entering Friday's road game against the Oakland Athletics. The light-hitting infielder homered Thursday as part of a streak in which he tied a franchise record with eight hits in eight at-bats over a three-game span to help Tampa Bay to a 7-3 win in the series opener, and the Rays have scored 28 runs during a three-game winning streak.
