Preview Roundups
July 21, 2015
Baltimore at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
Jonathan Schoop has hit the ground running after missing 2 1/2 months with a right knee injury. The 23-year-old second baseman looks to continue his torrid pace as the visiting Baltimore Orioles open a three-game series versus the American League East-leading New York Yankees on Tuesday.
Tampa Bay at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Top prospect Aaron Nola makes his major-league debut on the mound as the Philadelphia Phillies look for their fifth straight victory Tuesday when they host the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The Phillies chose Nola seventh overall in the 2014 draft and he has moved up quickly to earn his shot against the struggling Rays, who have dropped 18 of their last 25 games.
NY Mets at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals finally snapped out of their offensive doldrums and hope for a carry-over effect when they host the New York Mets on Tuesday in the second of a three-game series. Washington opened a three-game lead over New York atop the National League East with a 7-2 victory over the Mets and ace Matt Harvey in the series opener.
Seattle at Detroit 7:08 PM ET
Ian Kinsler had a six-game hitting streak halted when he was ejected from Sunday's game against Baltimore, but he came out swinging in his return to the lineup. Kinsler clubbed a pair of homers, including a go-ahead two-run shot in the eighth inning of Monday's 5-4 win over the visiting Seattle Mariners, who attempt to even the four-game series Tuesday night.
LA Dodgers at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
Maybe positive news on injured Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman jolted the team’s offense to life Monday, and the Braves hope it continues Tuesday when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second of a three-game series. Atlanta, which has scored two runs or fewer 15 times in 27 games since losing Freeman to a bruised right wrist last month, broke loose offensively in Monday’s 7-5 victory.
Chi. Cubs at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET

Not much has gone right for the Cincinnati Reds this season, but their ability to knock the ball out of the park has been a consistent bright spot. The Reds hope to continue their power surge against the visiting Chicago Cubs when the National League Central rivals continue their four-game series Tuesday.

Boston at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox look to end their losing streak when they continue their seven-game road trip with the opener of a three-game series against the Houston Astros on Tuesday. The Red Sox, who occupy the basement in the American League East, suffered their fourth and fifth consecutive defeats Monday as they were swept of a doubleheader by the host Los Angeles Angels.
St. Louis at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
After enjoying a day off following an 18-inning marathon, the St. Louis Cardinals look to return to their winning ways when they open an abbreviated two-game interleague series at the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Kolten Wong belted a solo homer to lead off the 13th frame, but St. Louis failed to come up with other big hits in a 3-1 setback to the New York Mets on Sunday.
Cleveland at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
Although their respective spots in the standings are less than desirable, the Cleveland Indians and host Milwaukee Brewers look to continue their winning ways at the other's expense when they open a two-game interleague series on Tuesday. The Indians reside in fourth place in the American League Central after winning the final two contests of their three-game set in Cincinnati over the weekend while National League Central cellar-dwelling Milwaukee swept a three-game series from Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh at Kansas City 8:10 PM ET
Gerrit Cole goes for his major league-leading 14th win as the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates look to make it two straight victories over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. The Pirates erupted for their highest run total since June 15 in Monday's 10-7 series-opening win, snapping a three-game losing streak coming out of the All-Star break.
Texas at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
The All-Star break did little to help the Texas Rangers cure what ails them, and face the prospect of a fifth straight series loss. The Rangers look to turn things around Tuesday when they continue a three-game series at Colorado, which has owned the series of late.
Miami at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
A visit from the Miami Marlins came at just the right time for the struggling Arizona Diamondbacks, who try to continue their success in the series in the second of three games Tuesday night. Behind seven strong innings from Rubby De La Rosa and a two-run single by David Peralta, the Diamondbacks snapped a six-game losing streak with Monday's 3-1 win in the series opener.
Minnesota at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels attempt to extend their winning streak to six games when they host the Minnesota Twins in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday. Los Angeles has excelled both at the plate and on the mound since being blanked at Seattle on July 11, scoring a total of 32 runs during its winning streak while allowing only seven.
Toronto at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
Josh Donaldson provided plenty of power in the heart of the Athletics’ order over his final two seasons in Oakland, finishing in the top 10 in the American League MVP voting in 2013 and 2014. He’ll return to O.co Coliseum for the first time since the late November trade that sent him to Toronto on Tuesday when the Blue Jays open a three-game set against the Athletics.
San Francisco at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
San Francisco rookie Chris Heston takes the mound for the first time in nine days when the Giants visit the San Diego Padres on Tuesday in the middle contest of their three-game series. The 27-year-old went 4-1 with a 2.12 ERA in seven starts prior to the All-Star break - a span which began with a no-hitter against the New York Mets - and looks to continue the success that has helped keep San Francisco contending in the National League West and wild-card races.
