Preview Roundups
July 05, 2015
Tampa Bay at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
After failing to record a walk-off win this season, the New York Yankees have done precisely that in each of the first two contests of the three-game series versus the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees will vie for the sweep when they conclude their set against their visiting American League East rival on Sunday afternoon.
Toronto at Detroit 1:08 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers did not miss Miguel Cabrera in their first game since losing the superstar slugger to a calf strain. The Tigers look to follow up another solid offensive showing when they aim for a three-game series sweep at home against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
Milwaukee at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers’ front office might be putting most of its focus on the trade deadline, but the team on the field still is fighting. The Brewers vie for their eighth straight win and a three-game sweep when they visit the Cincinnati Reds for Sunday’s finale.
Houston at Boston 1:35 PM ET
The finale of a three-game series between the visiting Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Sunday will feature a pair of standout rookies on the mound. Astros right-hander Lance McCullers, who has allowed one earned run or fewer in six of his first nine career starts, goes against Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez.
Cleveland at Pittsburgh 1:35 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates attempt to record their third straight series win when they host the Cleveland Indians on Sunday in the rubber match of their three-game interleague set. Pittsburgh took two of three from Atlanta and swept a three-game series in Detroit before its bats went cold.
Philadelphia at Atlanta 1:35 PM ET
Count the host Atlanta Braves among those who would not mind seeing Cole Hamels traded, and they could face him for the last time in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform on Sunday in the finale of a three-game series. Hamels, arguably the top target for contending teams leading up to the July 31 trade deadline, is 16-9 all-time against the Braves with a 3.21 ERA.
Baltimore at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
Although they reside in the cellar of the American League Central, the Chicago White Sox will vie for their second straight series sweep when they host the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon. The White Sox claimed both contests of an abbreviated interleague set against major league-best St. Louis before scratching for a pair of one-run victories over Baltimore.
Minnesota at Kansas City 2:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins have been searching for a spark to get them back to consistently contending with the Kansas City Royals atop the American League Central. The Twins are hoping the reinstatement of Ervin Santana provides that spark as they try to clinch their four-game series against the host Royals in the finale on Sunday.
San Diego at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
After snapping a season-high four-game skid, the St. Louis Cardinals look to secure a split of their four-game series with the visiting San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon. The majors-best Cardinals have struggled offensively, scoring just eight runs while going 2-for-39 with runners in scoring position over their last five contests.
Miami at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET
Rookie standout Kris Bryant looks to follow up a big offensive effort when his Chicago Cubs host the Miami Marlins in the rubber match of their three-game set on Sunday. Bryant, who had no homers and one RBI in his previous nine games, hit a grand slam and added a two-run blast as the Cubs evened the series with a 7-2 victory on Saturday.
Seattle at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics can move out of the basement of the American League West if their pitching holds up for one more day. The Athletics are a half game behind the visiting Seattle Mariners and have taken two of the first three in the series going into Sunday.
Colorado at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
Patrick Corbin returned to the mound for the first time in over 15 months and was able to cruise to a home victory for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Conversely, the Colorado Rockies’ Jorge De La Rosa has had ample opportunity to get his own long-awaited win in Arizona but has been unable to do so, something he will try to rectify Sunday when the visiting Rockies attempt to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of the Diamondbacks.
NY Mets at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The New York Mets attempt to win their first road series in nearly two months as they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers for the rubber match of their three-game set on Sunday. After posting a 2-1 triumph in the opener, the Mets had what could be considered - for them - an offensive outburst on Saturday but came away on the wrong end of a 4-3 decision.
LA Angels at Texas 7:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels’ recent surge and domination of the Texas Rangers has propelled them into sole possession of second place in the American League West. The Angels eye a road series sweep and their 14th win in their last 16 games in Arlington on Sunday when they wrap up a three-game set against the Rangers.
San Francisco at Washington 8:08 PM ET
The Washington Nationals look for their ninth straight home victory as they attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the suddenly struggling San Francisco Giants on Sunday night. The Nationals posted 13 hits in Saturday’s 9-3 triumph for their 11th win in the last 14 contests, but starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg’s outing ended in the fourth inning with tightness in his left side.
