Texas at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers missed out on a chance to sweep a series and now have some questions about the back of their bullpen. The Rangers will try to get closer Joakim Soria a day of rest when they begin a seven-game road trip at the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. Soria was one of the few solid pieces on the pitching staff before allowing five runs (four earned) over two appearances this weekend, including a loss on Sunday.
Colorado at Washington 7:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have an opportunity to ease into the second half of their season with a six-game homestand against the two worst road teams in the National League - the Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs. Washington (43-38), which welcomes Colorado to Nationals Park on Monday, is one-half game behind the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.
Tampa Bay at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays still sit in last place in the American League East but are proving to be a dangerous opponent. The Rays kept the Baltimore Orioles from advancing in the standings and will attempt to do the same when they visit the New York Yankees for the start of a three-game series on Monday. Tampa Bay took three of four from the Orioles and is attempting to make one last run at getting back into the race before the All-Star break.
Oakland at Detroit 7:08 PM ET
The league-leading Oakland Athletics look to continue to roll on the road as they begin a three-game series at the Detroit Tigers on Monday. Oakland took a pounding in the opener of its eight-game trek at the hands of the New York Mets before reeling off four consecutive victories, including a 4-3 triumph at Miami on Sunday that completed a three-game sweep of the Marlins.
Chi. Cubs at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs just enjoyed their first scheduled Sunday off during a homestand in the 98-year history of Wrigley Field and will now face the Boston Red Sox for just the fourth time in regular-season history when they open a three-game series in Boston on Monday. The Cubs dropped both ends of a doubleheader over the Washington Nationals on Saturday but won their last two road series. The Red Sox are returning after a 4-6 road trip.
NY Mets at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
After a strong road trip, the Atlanta Braves attempt to bring the success home with them as they open a three-game series against the New York Mets on Monday. Atlanta completed a four-game road sweep of Philadelphia – a first for the Braves since 1964 – to polish off an 8-3 trek and now plays six consecutive home games against the struggling Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks. New York has lost four of its last five contests.
LA Angels at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Garrett Richards seeks his fifth consecutive victory when the Los Angeles Angels open a three-game series against the visiting Chicago White Sox on Monday. The right-hander has allowed just four runs in 34 1/3 innings over five starts in June while enjoying the best stretch of his career. Los Angeles lost two of three to Kansas City over the weekend while Chicago won the final three contests of a four-game set in Toronto.
Seattle at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Prized prospect Taijuan Walker makes his 2014 major-league debut on Monday when the Seattle Mariners open a three-game series against the host Houston Astros. The 21-year-old Walker was expected to be a member of the starting rotation but a shoulder injury in spring training derailed those plans. Seattle has won 10 of its last 14 games while Houston second baseman Jose Altuve seeks to continue a historic tear that has seen him steal multiple bases in four straight games.
Kansas City at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins are happy to be home after a disastrous road trip and could be catching the Kansas City Royals at just the right time. The Twins will try to gain the upper hand when they host the Royals in the opener of their three-game series on Monday. Kansas City took two of three from the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend, earning a series win after dropping six of its previous seven games.
Cleveland at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
A hot streak has catapulted the Los Angeles Dodgers into a virtual tie for first place in the National League West as they open a three-game series against the visiting Cleveland Indians on Monday. The Dodgers were 9 1/2 games behind San Francisco three weeks ago but are now one percentage point behind the Giants after winning 12 of 16 games. Los Angeles attempts to stay hot against a Cleveland squad that has lost six of its last eight games.
Cincinnati at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds attempt to extend their winning streak to six games when they visit the San Diego Padres for the opener of a three-game series on Monday. Cincinnati has lost only three times in its last 14 contests and improved to 6-1 on its 10-game road trip with a 4-0 triumph at San Francisco on Sunday. Homer Bailey tossed a three-hit shutout while Brayan Pena and Skip Schumaker each recorded two hits and an RBI as the Reds completed a four-game sweep of the Giants.
