Preview Roundups
June 23, 2016
San Francisco at Pittsburgh 12:35 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost 12 of their last 14 games and are coming off one of the more agonizing setbacks in the bunch. The Pirates will try to recover from some disappointment and earn a split in the four-game series when they host the San Francisco Giants in the finale on Thursday.
Seattle at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners are not content to drift out of the race in the American League West and are making moves to stabilize a pitching staff that is becoming the team’s biggest weakness due to a series of injuries. The Mariners will try to avoid a sixth straight loss and a four-game sweep when they visit the Detroit Tigers in the finale on Thursday.
Philadelphia at Minnesota 1:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins own the worst record in the major leagues, but they have the great fortune to be facing an opponent that's currently in even more dire straits. The Twins go for their third series sweep of the season against visiting Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon and look to hand the sliding Phillies their 10th consecutive loss.
Chi. White Sox at Boston 1:35 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox figured to pad their home record this week with the slumping Chicago White Sox coming to town but instead are sliding down the standings. The Red Sox will try to avoid a four-game sweep when they host the White Sox in the series finale on Thursday.
NY Mets at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
The New York Mets have some potentially major injury concerns as they prepare to open a seven-game road trip with the first of four contests against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. The Mets completed a two-game sweep of Kansas City on Wednesday but saw ace right-hander Noah Syndergaard (elbow) and slugger Yoenis Cespedes (wrist) forced from the game with injuries.
Chi. Cubs at Miami 7:10 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs are in the midst of a season high-tying three-game losing streak as they head out on an 11-game road trip beginning Thursday. The Cubs are 22-12 on the road and hope to continue that success with a four-game series at the Miami Marlins to kick off the long trek.

San Diego at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres are averaging a shade under 5 1/2 runs in June, but all they have to show for it is a .500 record (10-10) in the month. After earning a split of a two-game interleague set in Baltimore, the Padres will close out their road trip with a four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds in a matchup of last-place teams.
Arizona at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
Arizona ace Zack Greinke started slow with his new team but has turned things around and is looking for his eighth consecutive winning start when the Diamondbacks open a four-game series against the host Colorado Rockies on Thursday. Greinke has allowed just three total runs over his last four outings and is one win shy of being tied for the National League lead.
Oakland at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
Tim Lincecum fared well against Oakland in his Los Angeles debut and attempts to follow up with another strong outing when the Angels open a four-game set against the host Athletics on Thursday. Lincecum gave up one run and four hits in six innings while beating Oakland last Saturday in his first major-league outing since June 27, 2015.
