Preview Roundups
May 19, 2016
Seattle at Baltimore 12:35 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles tend to win when they can get the ball to fly out of the ballpark, and their 57 home runs are a big reason why the team is in first place. The Orioles will try to get more out of the park for the second straight day when they host the Seattle Mariners in the rubber match of a three-game series on Thursday.
Chi. Cubs at Milwaukee 1:40 PM ET

After working overtime late Wednesday, the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers will need solid outings from their starting pitchers in the finale of a three-game series Thursday at Miller Park. The Cubs outlasted the Brewers 2-1 in 13 innings Wednesday to even the series at a game apiece and own a 3-1 edge in the season series.

Atlanta at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
The lack of home-run power has been evident throughout the Atlanta Braves’ difficult start to 2016, but they enter Thursday’s finale of a four-game road series against the Pittsburgh Pirates looking to go deep for the fourth consecutive contest. Tyler Flowers belted his first homer of the season in Wednesday’s 3-1 victory as part of a three-hit performance, giving the Braves five blasts in the past three games to raise their major-league worst total to 14.
Cleveland at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians put up 28 runs in a pair of dominating victories in their half of a home-and-home series against the Cincinnati Reds and kept the hits coming when the series shifted. The Reds will try to avoid a sweep of their portion of the four-game set when they host the Indians in the finale on Thursday.
Washington at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The Washington Nationals and New York Mets kicked off their three-game set with a stirring pitching matchup and will wrap it up with another marquee duel on the mound. Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg takes an unblemished record into Thursday's rubber match of the series against Matt Harvey and the host Mets.
Colorado at St. Louis 7:15 PM ET
St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Michael Wacha will attempt to follow the lead of teammate Adam Wainwright and break out of his own pitching funk when he faces the visiting Colorado Rockies on Thursday in the finale of a three-game series. The Cardinals snapped Colorado's five-game winning streak with a 2-0 victory Wednesday.
Houston at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Chris Sale looks to become the second Chicago White Sox pitcher to win his first nine starts of a season when he takes the mound against the visiting Houston Astros in Thursday's finale of a three-game series. Eddie Cicotte won his first 12 starts in 1919 and Sale's eight straight victories tie him with John Whitehead (1935) and Jon Garland (2005) for second on the club's ledger.
Toronto at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
Perhaps a change of scenery - and a matchup with the worst team in the American League - will help the Toronto Blue Jays rediscover their winning ways. The Blue Jays will look to snap a season-high five-game losing streak when they begin a four-game series at the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.
San Francisco at San Diego 9:10 PM ET
The San Francisco Giants are the hottest team in the majors and look for their eighth consecutive victory when they close a three-game series against the host San Diego Padres on Thursday. San Francisco also is looking to complete a 7-0 road trip and has allowed just nine runs while winning four games at Arizona and two at San Diego.
LA Dodgers at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
Another day, another injury for the Los Angeles Angels, who continue to shuffle their roster heading into Thursday’s finale of the four-game Freeway Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Anaheim. The Angels have won five of their last six games but added a 10th member to their disabled list on Wednesday after learning that catcher Geovany Soto will miss the next four to six weeks with a torn meniscus in his right knee.
NY Yankees at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner is disappointed in the club's performance and took aim at highly paid first baseman Mark Teixeira in a stinging critique of the struggling team. Teixeira is batting just .203 and is mired in a 30-game homerless drought as New York opens a four-game series Thursday against the host Oakland Athletics.
