Detroit at Cleveland 7:05 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians are in the middle of a brutal stretch of the schedule and are not handling it very well. The Indians will try to snap a four-game slide when they host the Detroit Tigers in the opener of a three-game series on Monday. Cleveland fell to Toronto to begin its slide and was promptly swept by the Oakland Athletics, who own the second-best record in the American League, by a combined score of 30-6.
Cincinnati at Washington 7:05 PM ET
After some uncharacteristically poor outings early in the season, Stephen Strasburg is starting to resemble his typically dominant self. The right-hander looks to post his sixth straight quality start Monday evening when his Washington Nationals open a three-game home series against the Cincinnati Reds. Strasburg is 2-1 with a 1.89 ERA over his last five games, although his career ERA against the Reds is his highest against any opponent.
Milwaukee at Atlanta 7:10 PM ET
Just when the Atlanta Braves thought their May schedule could not get any tougher, they return home from a difficult road trip to face one of baseball’s top teams. The Milwaukee Brewers bring their 27-17 record into Atlanta on Monday for the opener of a four-game series. While the Braves look to begin playing better after dropping 10 of their first 16 May contests, the Brewers have lost six of their past 11.
Chi. White Sox at Kansas City 8:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals' offense finally showed signs of life in the finale of their four-game weekend set, and they'll try to keep it going against a rookie pitcher when they open a three-game series with the visiting Chicago White Sox on Monday. The Royals scored just two runs in their first three games against Baltimore over the weekend but broke out Sunday for an 8-6 win to salvage a split. Chicago dropped two of three at Houston over the weekend and has lost six of eight overall.
Houston at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
After suffering through an injury-plagued 2013 season, Albert Pujols is healthy again and tied for second in the major leagues with 12 homers for the suddenly hot Los Angeles Angels. Pujols looks to continue climbing the all-time home run list when the Angels host the Houston Astros on Monday in the opener of their three-game series.
