Preview Roundups
May 03, 2015
Toronto at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
Toronto began its 10-game road trip in dismal fashion but has a chance for a strong finish when it ends a four-game series at Cleveland on Sunday. The Blue Jays dropped the first four games of the voyage before claiming three of the next five, including an 11-4 rout of the Indians on Saturday.
Philadelphia at Miami 1:10 PM ET
Former Philadelphia Phillies prospect Jarred Cosart is starting to come into his own as a member of the Miami Marlins. Cosart faces the Phillies for the second time this season when the teams wrap up their weekend series with a Sunday matinee in Miami.
Washington at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The Washington Nationals continue to make themselves feel at home at Citi Field and can send the host New York Mets to a third straight series loss on Sunday, when the National League East rivals wrap up their four-game set. The Nationals handed the Mets their first shutout defeat of the season with a 1-0 victory on Saturday to improve to 16-2 in their last 18 games in New York.
Tampa Bay at Baltimore 1:35 PM ET
Steve Pearce has been in the middle of things when his Baltimore Orioles have had success versus the Tampa Bay Rays the last two seasons. Pearce boasts five RBIs in five games against Rays in 2015, including a two-run double in a 4-0 victory Saturday, and looks to add to that when the teams play the rubber match of a three-game series that was moved to Tampa Bay due to public unrest in Baltimore.
Cincinnati at Atlanta 1:35 PM ET
Hitting with runners in scoring position has been a stumbling block for the Cincinnati Reds lately, but the clutch hitting finally appeared Saturday. The Reds look to defeat the host Atlanta Braves for the third time in four games on Sunday, one day after going 4-for-8 with runners in scoring position en route to an 8-4 triumph.
Chi. White Sox at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
Sitting at the .500 mark for the first time in nearly one year, the Minnesota Twins look to complete a four-game sweep of the visiting Chicago White Sox on Sunday. The Twins have used a pair of three-game winning streaks to overcome a wretched 1-6 start to the season and reach .500 for the first time since May 24, 2014.
Detroit at Kansas City 2:10 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers aim for a split of their four-game series against the host Kansas City Royals when the two American League Central rivals meet Sunday afternoon. After dropping the first two games of the set by a combined score of 12-2, the Tigers rode a dominant effort from David Price to a 2-1 victory on Saturday night.
Seattle at Houston 2:10 PM ET
The American League West-leading Houston Astros look to extend their winning streak to 10 games and complete a four-game sweep when they host the Seattle Mariners in the series finale on Sunday. Houston continued its torrid stretch Saturday with an 11-4 triumph in which it belted five home runs.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
St. Louis and Pittsburgh are having some trouble figuring things out in nine innings, and the Cardinals are getting the better end of the bullpen performances. St. Louis will go for the sweep when it hosts the Pirates in the finale of a three-game series on Sunday.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers have a chance to pick up their first series win of the season with a victory Sunday against the host Chicago Cubs. The Brewers evened the three-game set with a 6-1 victory Saturday behind four hits from Jean Segura and a two-run homer from Ryan Braun.
Oakland at Texas 3:05 PM ET
The Texas Rangers attempt to win their first series of the season when they host the Oakland Athletics in the finale of their three-game set on Sunday. Texas entered the matchup 0-5-2 over its first seven series of the year, including a three-game sweep at the hands of Seattle earlier in the week.
LA Angels at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
San Francisco’s Brandon Crawford is an unlikely power source, but his five home runs are tied for the most among all major-league shortstops as the Giants aim for a three-game series sweep against the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Crawford moved halfway to his career-high of 10 homers with a solo blast in Saturday's 5-4 victory.
Arizona at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ fate was pretty much sealed last year when it trailed late, but this edition of the two-time defending National League West champions appears much less overmatched in such situations. Los Angeles attempts to sweep an opponent for the third time in its last four home series Sunday when it wraps up a three-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Colorado at San Diego 4:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres try for a three-game home sweep of the Colorado Rockies on Sunday and the starting pitchers - both offseason pickups via the free agent market - are an indication of the direction each team is heading. San Diego will pay James Shields $10 million in 2015 and he is 5-for-5 in quality starts since donning a Padres uniform while Colorado ponied up $5.5 million for Kyle Kendrick, who has yielded 26 runs in his last four turns.
NY Yankees at Boston 8:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees pitching staff is having no trouble silencing the Boston Red Sox’s powerful lineup. The Yankees will send Adam Warren to the mound Sunday while looking for a sweep of the three-game series at the Red Sox.
