Preview Roundups
April 28, 2016
Oakland at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
Slugger Victor Martinez is healthy and mashing, giving the Detroit Tigers the opportunity to steal a series win. Martinez will try to stay hot and drag the rest of the middle of the batting order up with him as the Tigers seek their third win in the four-game set  when they host the Oakland Athletics for the finale on Thursday afternoon.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

Jake Arrieta has placed his name among the best pitchers in the game with his run over the last two seasons, but he has a chance to elevate himself to even more rarefied air Thursday. Arrieta aims to join Johnny Vander Meer as the only players in major-league history to throw back-to-back no-hitters when he and the Chicago Cubs take on the visiting Milwaukee Brewers in the finale of their abbreviated two-game series.

Pittsburgh at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
The lack of quality starting pitching has been an ongoing concern for the Colorado Rockies, who will receive another reminder of that when they face a once-promising prospect Thursday afternoon. Juan Nicasio, who spent his first four seasons with Colorado, will take the mound as the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates go for their ninth straight win at Coors Field in the finale of a four-game series.
Philadelphia at Washington 4:05 PM ET
The Washington Nationals have not dropped three games in a row this season, but that streak could come to an end when they host the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series. The Nationals were shut out for the first time Wednesday, a 3-0 defeat that clinched their first series loss.
Chi. White Sox at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox, whose pitching staff continues to mow down opponents, engage in a battle of unlikely division leaders when they visit the Baltimore Orioles for the opener of a four-game series on Thursday. The White Sox are winners of six straight and began their road trip by holding powerful Toronto to six runs in a three-game sweep.
Atlanta at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The most productive offense in the American League and a solid turn through the rotation have the Boston Red Sox looking like a contender. Playing against the worst team in the major leagues helps as well, and the Red Sox will try to take their fourth straight from the Atlanta Braves when they host the finale of the home-and-home series on Thursday.
St. Louis at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
Arizona and St. Louis are 1-2 in the majors in home runs after hitting five apiece in the first three contests of their four-game set, which concludes Thursday as the Cardinals try for a series victory against the host Diamondbacks. St. Louis has won 10 of the last 11 meetings and 15 of 17 after the biggest blow in Wednesday's 11-4 win stayed in the park - a go-ahead, bases-loaded triple by winning pitcher Adam Wainwright in the sixth inning.
Miami at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
The Miami Marlins look to extend their season-high winning streak to five games and give manager Don Mattingly a sweep to remember when they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday for the finale of their four-game series. Miami improved to 4-2 on its 10-game road trip with Wednesday's 2-0 triumph over the Dodgers, whom Mattingly managed from 2011-15.
