Preview Roundups
April 26, 2015
Cleveland at Detroit 1:08 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers look to continue their recent dominance of the Cleveland Indians in the rubber match of a three-game set at Comerica Park on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers have won eight of their last nine games against the Indians and are coming off a 4-1 victory on Saturday as Victor Martinez drove in three runs to help Detroit snap a season-high four-game skid.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
Chris Archer may be in the midst of a breakout season as he takes the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday when they attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. The 26-year-old right-hander did not allow an earned run in his last three starts, including one versus the Blue Jays, and has struck out 30 in 25 1/3 innings overall.
Chi. Cubs at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
After rain washed out Saturday's matinee, the Chicago Cubs will try to wrap up a two-game sweep when they play at Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon. The Cubs took the opener Friday night in 11 innings by a 7-3 margin and had standout right-hander Jake Arrieta lined up to go in the second game of the series, but nature intervened.
Washington at Miami 1:10 PM ET
The Washington Nationals’ road woes are becoming a trend, as is their penchant for nearly getting swept away from home. The Nationals, who have won both of their road series finales, turn to Gio Gonzalez to stop their four-game losing streak on Sunday when they wrap up a three-game set in Miami against the Marlins.
Boston at Baltimore 1:35 PM ET
Jimmy Paredes is one of several players filling openings in the Baltimore Orioles’ lineup due to injury, and he is making the most of his opportunity. Paredes will try to keep his hot streak alive and help the Orioles earn a series win when they host the Boston Red Sox in the rubber match of a three-game set on Sunday.
Atlanta at Philadelphia 1:35 PM ET
After going 20 innings without scoring a run, the Atlanta Braves hope three runs in the seventh inning Saturday jump-starts their sputtering offense. The Braves wrap up a nine-game road trip with Sunday’s series finale at the Philadelphia Phillies, buoyed by Andrelton Simmons’ homer and run-scoring hits from Eric Young Jr. and Chris Johnson in the seventh of Saturday’s 5-2 victory.
Kansas City at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals were unable to resolve anything Friday night due to a disruption from Mother Nature - and Saturday's action did not fare any better. After they complete a suspended game Sunday afternoon, the teams will take the field for the final contest of their four-game set in Chicago.
St. Louis at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
Lance Lynn is enjoying another terrific April and has a chance to conclude his month in style Sunday when the St. Louis Cardinals wrap up their road series with the Milwaukee Brewers. Lynn is 13-2 with a 2.58 ERA in his career in March and April and has a 1.56 ERA after three starts this season.
Texas at LA Angels 3:35 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels on Sunday try for a three-game sweep of the visiting Texas Rangers as the specter of the Josh Hamilton situation looms over the teams. Los Angeles recorded its first three-game winning streak of the season with a 4-1 victory Saturday and more importantly, Albert Pujols showed signs of halting an early-season funk which has seen him hit .185 and go 2-for-18 over his last five contests.
Houston at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros may be a year or two away from becoming a playoff contender, but they continue to show signs that they may be ahead of schedule as they try for a three-game road sweep over the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. Houston won 5-4 in 11 innings Friday before recording a 9-3 victory Saturday when defending American League batting champion Jose Altuve hit a three-run homer and George Springer continued to show signs that he is breaking out of his early-season slump.
Minnesota at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
Although their play away from home has left plenty to be desired, the Minnesota Twins can attempt to win their first road series of the season with a victory against the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. Minnesota rebounded after getting handcuffed by Felix Hernandez in Friday's opener as Eduardo Nunez collected two hits and as many RBIs to claim an 8-5 triumph the following night.
Pittsburgh at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
Neil Walker looks to continue his blistering stretch as the Pittsburgh Pirates vie for their second series sweep of the season when they conclude their three-game set at the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Walker ripped a pair of doubles to extend his hitting streak to eight games and scored both Pirates' runs in Saturday's 2-1 triumph.
San Francisco at Colorado 4:10 PM ET
Angel Pagan missed the San Francisco Giants’ World Series run last season due to back surgery, but he’s making up for lost time this month. The veteran center fielder is 8-for-15 over his last three games and hitting .355 for the Giants, who visit the Colorado Rockies on Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 4:10 PM ET
If the San Diego Padres are going to snap their four-game losing streak Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers, they might want to aim for a shutout. Since 2010, the Dodgers are 23-4 against the Padres at Petco Park when scoring at least three runs.
NY Mets at NY Yankees 8:05 PM ET
Less than 24 hours after having their 11-game winning streak halted, the New York Mets returned the favor by denying the New York Yankees a fifth straight victory with an 8-2 romp behind ace Matt Harvey. The Mets, who own the best record in baseball at 14-4, look to capture the Subway Series in Sunday night's nationally-televised finale at Yankee Stadium.
