Preview Roundups
April 24, 2015
Boston at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
Boston and Baltimore battled to a draw in a four-game series at Fenway Park last weekend and will fight again for American League East bragging rights when the Orioles host the Red Sox in the opener of a three-game set on Friday. Baltimore won on Saturday and Sunday in Boston but has dropped four games since, including the finale of that series on Monday.
NY Mets at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The white-hot New York Mets have added extra spice to the upcoming edition of the Subway Series, taking the best record in baseball and a franchise record-tying 11-game streak into the Bronx on Friday in the series opener against the New York Yankees. The Mets finished off a sweep of Atlanta on Thursday to complete the first perfect 10-game homestand in club annals and match their best start through 16 games at 13-3.
Atlanta at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Aaron Harang and Cody Asche are two of the precious few bright spots for the Philadelphia Phillies, who hope the duo provides a spark when the Phillies host the struggling Atlanta Braves on Friday. Harang looks for his third victory as he takes the mound for a Philadelphia team that has lost nine of its past 11 while Asche has a hit in five straight games and eight of his past 10.
Cleveland at Detroit 7:08 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers look to get back to their winning ways when they host the Cleveland Indians in the opener of a three-game set on Friday. The Tigers have dropped three in a row following a 2-1 defeat to the New York Yankees on Thursday and have been limited to just nine runs in their last four games after cruising to a 9-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday as the cold snap in the Midwest continues to hamper their hot hitting.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays get back one of their three starting pitchers on the disabled list when Drew Smyly takes the mound Friday against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays to begin a three-game set. Rotation regulars Alex Cobb and Matt Moore are still recovering from injuries as Smyly looks to give the Rays a boost after returning from a shoulder tendinitis.
Chi. Cubs at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET

The Cincinnati Reds faced the Chicago Cubs just over a week ago, but they might not recognize the team that comes to town for a three-game series starting Friday. The Cubs and newly-minted rookies Kris Bryant and Addison Russell head to Cincinnati looking to end a two-game skid and claim another series from the Reds.

Washington at Miami 7:10 PM ET
The road hasn’t been kind to the Washington Nationals yet this month, but the reigning National League East champions have a good chance to turn it around away from home beginning on Friday if they can repeat last season’s success against the Miami Marlins. Washington is off to a 7-9 start despite playing 10 of its first 16 at Nationals Park and needed to win a pair of series finales at Philadelphia and Boston to avoid three-game sweeps.
Kansas City at Chi. White Sox 8:10 PM ET
One night after posting a wild victory in the series opener, the Kansas City Royals seek to improve to 5-0 against the Chicago White Sox this season when the teams square off Friday night. The Royals swept the White Sox at home to open the season and captured a 3-2 triumph in Chicago on Thursday in the first game of the four-game set.
St. Louis at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The first-place St. Louis Cardinals and last-place Milwaukee Brewers need look no further than pitching to understand why they occupy the spots they do in the National League Central. The Cardinals, who open a three-game series in Milwaukee on Friday, have allowed two or fewer runs in 10 of their 14 contests and boast a league-best 2.06 ERA as a result.
San Francisco at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
Things appear to be trending upward for the San Francisco Giants, who have won three straight after dropping nine of their previous 10. The Giants look to build on a series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday when they begin a six-game road trip in Colorado against the Rockies.
Pittsburgh at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
Gregory Polanco hopes his sizzling bat will keep warm on the plane as the Pittsburgh Pirates open a nine-game road trip with a three-game series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. Polanco, who is 11-for-25 with six runs scored in his last seven contests, ripped the go-ahead RBI single to highlight his three-hit performance in Pittsburgh's 5-4 triumph over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday afternoon.
Houston at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros try to continue their ascent toward becoming a contender in the American League West when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Friday in the opener of a three-game series. Houston, which began its nine-game road trip by taking two of three from Seattle from Monday through Wednesday, vies for its ninth straight victory with Dallas Keuchel on the mound as the ace left-hander looks to record his 11th consecutive quality start.
Texas at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers, who own the American League's two worst batting averages at .213 and .215, begin a three-game series Friday in Anaheim. Los Angeles recorded only hit Thursday and didn't have a baserunner after the third inning, but Kole Calhoun's two-run homer was enough as the Angels prevailed 2-0 over Oakland to earn a four-game series split.
Minnesota at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
Felix Hernandez looks to remain undefeated when the Seattle Mariners open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Friday. Hernandez has allowed just one run and two hits in each of his two home outings this season while getting off to a strong start.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers look to regroup Friday when they begin a three-game series against the San Diego Padres, who are starting a nine-game homestand. The Dodgers lost three straight in San Francisco and could use a bounce-back effort from their bullpen, which issued seven walks in 10 1/3 innings.
