Preview Roundups
April 13, 2016
Miami at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The New York Mets are conjuring up memories from last year's club - not the team that made it to the World Series, but rather the unit that struggled through the first few months due to one of the league's worst offenses. The Mets hope to get their bats untracked as they try to avert a three-game sweep against the visiting Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.
LA Angels at Oakland 3:35 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels are beginning to bust out of their early season batting slump as they try for a three-game sweep in Oakland against the Athletics on Wednesday. Geovany Soto provided the big blast in Tuesday's 5-4 victory with a two-run homer in the ninth inning, while first baseman Albert Pujols contributed a two-run double to raise his average to .167 and help Los Angeles record its third straight victory after a 1-4 start in which it scored nine runs.
Texas at Seattle 3:40 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners begin a nine-game, 10-day road trip following Wednesday’s series finale against the visiting Texas Rangers, and they probably can’t wait to leave. The Mariners have dropped their first five home games for the first time in franchise history and fell to 2-6 overall with Tuesday’s 8-0 loss to the Rangers, who have won four of their last five.
Detroit at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
J.D. Martinez looks to extend his season-opening hitting streak to seven contests on Wednesday as the Detroit Tigers open the back end of their four-game, home-and-home interleague series with the host Pittsburgh Pirates. After going deep in the opener, Martinez joined Justin Upton with four-hit, two-RBI performances in Tuesday's 8-2 rout as the Tigers snapped a modest two-game skid overall and a four-game slide in the series.
Atlanta at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Bryce Harper remains one home run away from becoming one of the youngest players in baseball history to reach 100 career longballs, but the Washington right fielder did not win the National League MVP award as a 22-year-old last season just because of his power. Harper lifted the Nationals to a 2-1 victory over Atlanta on Tuesday with an eighth-inning bloop double, continuing Washington's mastery of the Braves entering Wednesday’s third contest of a four-game home series.
San Diego at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
San Diego's streaky offense once again is trending in the wrong direction. One day after suffering their fourth shutout loss of the young season, the Padres aim for an offensive resurgence Wednesday in the third contest of their four-game series against the host Philadelphia Phillies.
NY Yankees at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
It's a small sample size to be sure, but one major difference between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays in the early part of the season has been the effectiveness of their respective bullpens. It certainly proved to be the deciding factor in the series opener for the visiting Yankees, who look to make it two straight wins in Toronto on Wednesday
Baltimore at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Orioles are on pace to win 162 games and are turning Fenway Park into their own home run palace this week. Baltimore will try to bash its way to a series sweep and an 8-0 record to begin the season when it visits the Boston Red Sox for the finale on Wednesday.
Cleveland at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
After a slow start out of the blocks, the Tampa Bay Rays hope their late power display in the series opener extends to Wednesday's clash against the visiting Cleveland Indians. Evan Longoria and Logan Forsythe each belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning of Tuesday's 5-1 victory, marking just the second time in seven games this season that the Rays have eclipsed four runs in a contest.
Cincinnati at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

John Lackey got plenty of support from the bullpen and the Chicago Cubs’ potent lineup in his first start with his new club, but hopes to pull more of the weight when they continue a three-game series against the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Lackey looks to add to his strong records against the Reds and at Wrigley Field as Chicago aims to claim its third straight series victory to begin the season.

Chi. White Sox at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
Minnesota is off to the franchise's worst start in 112 years and the Twins attempt to end the 0-7 start when they host the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The Twins have been outscored 30-13 over the first seven games in what is the worst opening stretch since they started 0-13 as the Washington Senators in 1904.
Kansas City at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals look to get their offense in gear when they continue their four-game series against the host Houston Astros on Wednesday. Kansas City has scored more than four runs only once in its first seven games of the season and has totaled five while splitting its first two contests at Minute Maid Park.
Milwaukee at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals beat up on Milwaukee in the series opener and look for their fifth consecutive victory when they host the Brewers in Wednesday's second contest of the three-game set. St. Louis rolled up 19 hits - including 10 for extra bases - while routing Milwaukee 10-1 on Monday.
San Francisco at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
San Francisco prevailed in the series opener despite not having Buster Posey in the lineup, but the top active hitter at Coors Field is expected back Wednesday as the Giants visit the Colorado Rockies for the middle contest of their three-game set. Posey, who is hitting .396 in Denver, suffered a bruised right foot Sunday and watched as his backup - rookie Trevor Brown - belted two home runs in Tuesday's 7-2 victory.
Arizona at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Paul Goldschmidt looks to continue his hot streak against the Los Angeles Dodgers when his Arizona Diamondbacks visit for the middle contest of a three-game set on Wednesday. Goldschmidt homered for the fourth time in five games against the Dodgers, dating back to last season, in a 4-2 victory to open the series Tuesday.
