Preview Roundups
April 12, 2016
Pittsburgh at Detroit 1:10 PM ET
After some lackluster offensive efforts over the weekend, the Pittsburgh Pirates greeted the season's second week with a hit parade. The Pirates seek an encore to a 17-hit outburst when they continue a two-game interleague series at the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.
Arizona at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers look to settle things down after a strange first seven games of the season when they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in their home opener on Tuesday afternoon. The Dodgers outscored San Diego 25-0 to sweep the first three contests of 2016 before dropping three of four at San Francisco while giving up 26 runs and coughing up three leads.
Atlanta at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Two of the hottest hitters in the National League look to continue their good work at the plate Tuesday, when the Washington Nationals host the Atlanta Braves in the second contest of their four-game series. Washington's Daniel Murphy is enjoying a fantastic start with his new team, as the former New York Mets second baseman went 2-for-4 with a home run in Monday’s 6-4 victory to raise his average to .471, while Atlanta’s Nick Markakis doubled twice and drove in two runs.
San Diego at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Don't look now, but the San Diego Padres are starting to heat up. After failing to score a run in a season-opening sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Padres have rallied nicely with three wins in their last four games - a run they hope will continue Tuesday against the host Philadelphia Phillies.
NY Yankees at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays ended a 22-year postseason drought in 2015 and one of the biggest reasons why was their success against the New York Yankees. The Blue Jays look to continue the mastery of their American League East rivals when they host the Yankees on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series.
Baltimore at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox spent a lot of money and sent away some top prospects to fix the top of their rotation and the back of their bullpen, but it didn’t show in the home opener. The Red Sox will try to bounce back and hand the Baltimore Orioles their first loss when they host the second of a three-game series on Tuesday.
Cleveland at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays look to get their highly regarded starting pitching staff going when they host the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday for the first of a three-game set. Tampa Bay’s starters have not recorded a victory or completed seven innings and own a bloated 5.67 ERA in the first six contests as Matt Moore attempts to stop the trend in the series opener.
Miami at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
Two of the top young pitchers in the game will square off when the New York Mets host the Miami Marlins on Tuesday in the middle contest of their three-game set. Miami delivered an early knockout punch in the series opener, pushing across seven runs in the second inning en route to handing the Mets their third straight loss with a 10-3 drubbing.
Kansas City at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals attempt to slow down rookie Tyler White and even their series against the host Houston Astros at one win apiece when the teams continue their four-game set on Tuesday. The 25-year-old White, who was named the first American League Player of the Week of 2016, posted his fourth multi-hit performance of the season Monday to improve to 12-for-22 (.545) over his first seven major-league games.
San Francisco at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
It's quite a Story, this Colorado rookie shortstop Trevor, and he'll try to keep the historic start to his career going - while masking the club's pitching woes - when the Rockies host the San Francisco Giants in a three-game series beginning Tuesday. Story set major league records for most home runs in the first six games of a career and in a team's first six contests of a season when he belted his seventh in Colorado's 6-3 victory over San Diego on Sunday.
LA Angels at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
Albert Pujols likely will return to his regular role as Los Angeles’ designated hitter Tuesday as the Angels continue their three-game series against the host Oakland Athletics, but the 36-year-old hasn’t put his first baseman’s glove away for good. Pujols made his first start of the season at first base Monday and recorded a rare stolen base as the Angels won 4-1 to snap Oakland’s three-game winning streak.
Texas at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners are winless in four home games this season and attempt to halt their doldrums when they host the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. Texas second baseman Rougned Odor drove in three runs to help the Rangers post a 7-3 victory in Monday's opener of the three-game series.
