Preview Roundups
April 10, 2016
Boston at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are four games into the season and have the same questions about the starting rotation that they had in the offseason, but the offense and the bullpen are better than advertised. The Red Sox will try to ride their hitters and relievers to a series sweep when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays for the finale of their three-game set on Sunday.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati 1:10 PM ET
The Cincinnati Reds, a trendy pick to finish last in the National League Central, essentially are one bad pitch away from a 5-0 start. The Reds look to stay hot against one of the division powerhouses when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday in the rubber match of their three-game series.
Philadelphia at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The Philadelphia Phillies found their way into the win column Saturday and look to claim their first series of the season Sunday, when they visit the New York Mets for the rubber match of their three-game set. The Phillies opened the season with four straight losses before nipping the Mets 1-0 on Saturday behind a veteran slugger and a young hurler.
Tampa Bay at Baltimore 1:35 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles flaunted their power in the series opener and can match the franchise record for consecutive victories to open the season when they host the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. The Orioles, who belted three homers in the three-game sweep of the Minnesota Twins, registered four solo blasts in a 6-1 victory over the Rays on Friday before Saturday's scheduled contest was postponed by inclement weather.
St. Louis at Atlanta 1:35 PM ET
For a team full of star power and coming off a 100-victory season, the St. Louis Cardinals have received a big boost from a minor-league journeyman making the most of his first foray into the majors. Outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker is hitting .400 through the first five games of the season, and the Cardinals head into Sunday’s series finale at the Atlanta Braves looking to sweep the series and move their record to .500.
Miami at Washington 1:35 PM ET
Bryce Harper is sure to pass plenty of milestones in his career, and the reigning National League Most Valuable Player has a good shot at hitting one Sunday. After Saturday's game was postponed due to unseasonably cold weather, Harper takes aim at his 100th career home run when the Washington Nationals continue their three-game series with the visiting Miami Marlins.
Cleveland at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
Chris Sale recently compared pitching in cold weather to getting punched in the face, but it was his offense that delivered a haymaker in Saturday's comeback victory. The Chicago White Sox hope for similar success on Sunday in what may be another chilly afternoon as they attempt to take the rubber match of their three-game home set with the American League Central-rival Cleveland Indians.
Houston at Milwaukee 2:10 PM ET
With a former batting champ, a Cy Young Award winner and a trendy choice to win the MVP on their roster, the Houston Astros had several players they knew would make an impact this year, but nobody saw rookie Tyler White's start coming. White will look to continue a phenomenal stretch at the plate when the Astros complete a three-game series at the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
Minnesota at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals attempt to complete their first series sweep of the young season when they host the Minnesota Twins on Sunday for the finale of their three-game set. After opening the campaign with a split of a two-game series against the New York Mets in a rematch of the 2015 World Series, Kansas City edged Minnesota in Friday's opener before rolling to a 7-0 triumph a day later.
Texas at LA Angels 3:35 PM ET
The Texas Rangers will go for their third consecutive victory when they visit the struggling Los Angeles Angels for the finale of the four-game series Sunday. The Rangers knocked off the Angels 4-1 on Saturday as Adrian Beltre recorded three hits, including his first homer of the season, but finished the game with serious injury concerns.
LA Dodgers at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ extensive disabled list continues to expand, but it doesn’t appear to be affecting the product on the field. The Dodgers are 4-2 heading into Sunday’s series finale against the host San Francisco Giants, who have an identical record with a lineup that has homered in each of the team's first six games.
Oakland at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics bullpen has been a pleasant surprise during the season’s first week, but the group could use a breather heading into Sunday’s series finale against the host Seattle Mariners. Oakland relievers held the Mariners scoreless for 7 2/3 scoreless innings in the first two games of the series as the Athletics recorded consecutive wins for the first time in the young season.
Chi. Cubs at Arizona 4:10 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs beat the Arizona Diamondbacks’ ace Saturday and Arizona will try to return the favor in Sunday’s series finale. Reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta makes his second start of the season for the Cubs opposite snake-bitten right-hander Shelby Miller, who has won only one of his past 26 starts dating to last May.

San Diego at Colorado 4:10 PM ET
Trevor Story has etched his name into the record books during an historic first week for the Colorado Rockies, although it might not be long before the rookie is hoping he can keep up with Matt Kemp, given his production this weekend. Kemp and the San Diego Padres look to continue their offensive resurgence Sunday as they attempt to complete a three-game road sweep of the Rockies.
NY Yankees at Detroit 8:10 PM ET
Justin Verlander and Masahiro Tanaka made strong statements right out of the gate in their respective season-opening contests, only to be left with a no-decision following a premature exit. The aces of the Detroit Tigers and visiting New York Yankees look to pitch deeper into the night on Sunday at Comerica Park when the clubs play the rubber match of the three-game series.
