Preview Roundups
April 08, 2015
Minnesota at Detroit 1:08 PM ET
The Detroit Tigers look for their second straight dominant pitching performance to open the season when they send Anibal Sanchez to the mound against the visiting Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. David Price blanked the Twins over 8 2/3 innings in a 4-0 victory on Monday as the Tigers collected 10 hits without a contribution from former MVP Miguel Cabrera.
St. Louis at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

Nasty weather put the brakes on the latest clash between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs, who will wrap up an abbreviated series Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field. The threat of rain and sub-freezing wind chills wiped out Tuesday's contest after the Cardinals claimed a 3-0 victory in the season opener Sunday.

Boston at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Hanley Ramirez indirectly helped Boston win the 2007 World Series, but if the Red Sox this season are to win their fourth title in 12 years, it will likely involve a major contribution from their left fielder. Ramirez belted two home runs and drove in five runs in Monday's 8-0 season-opening victory and tries to keep impressing his new and old employer when the Red Sox visit the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday in the middle contest of their three-game series.
Toronto at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
After one of its young hurlers shined in an Opening Day win at Yankee Stadium, Toronto turns to one of its veterans in the continuation of a three-game series with New York on Wednesday. The Blue Jays, who had lost 29 of their previous 34 games in the Bronx before this set, rode solid six innings from 24-year-old Drew Hutchison and a two-run homer by Edwin Encarnacion to a 6-1 victory in the opener Monday.
NY Mets at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Washington's vaunted starting rotation got off to a great start Opening Day, but the rest of the team laid an egg. The Nationals try to get into the win column for the first time when they send Jordan Zimmermann to the mound against the New York Mets on Wednesday in the continuation of a three-game series in the nation's capital.
Baltimore at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles have opened defense of their American League East title by scoring six runs in consecutive victories at Tampa Bay, and Steve Pearce is leading the way offensively. The Orioles aim for a series sweep of the Rays on Wednesday after Pearce continued terrorizing Tampa Bay pitching, homering for the second consecutive game in Tuesday’s 6-5 triumph.
Atlanta at Miami 7:10 PM ET
It is just two games, but the Atlanta Braves could not have scripted a better start to their rebuilding campaign. The Braves, who opened this season with only six players on their 25-man roster who were on the team for the 2014 season opener, are 2-0 and send newly acquired Shelby Miller to the mound Wednesday in Miami looking for a three-game sweep after Tuesday’s 12-2 victory.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
Although Gerrit Cole is only 24 years old and has yet to play a full season in the majors, he has already established himself as a stopper for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The young right-hander will attempt to live up to that reputation on Wednesday when the Pirates try to avoid their first 0-2 start to a season since 2006 against the host Cincinnati Reds.
Chi. White Sox at Kansas City 8:10 PM ET
The Kansas City Royals look to stay hot with the bats after an impressive opener when they host the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday in the second of a three-game series. The defending American League champion Royals, who were last in the majors in home runs last season, had a pair of blasts and totaled 13 hits in a 10-1 rout of the White Sox on Monday.
Cleveland at Houston 8:10 PM ET
Jose Altuve was honored in a pregame ceremony on Opening Day for becoming the first player in franchise history to win a batting title, and went on to reward the Houston Astros with a key hit a few hours later. The two-time All-Star looks to spark his team again as it eyes its second 2-0 start in as many years on Wednesday when the Astros continue their three-game home set against the Cleveland Indians.
Colorado at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies' season is off to a promising start, although the same cannot be said for the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rockies have outscored the Brewers 15-2 in the first two games of their season-opening series in Milwaukee and will aim for a three-game sweep Wednesday evening.
San Francisco at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The injury-plagued San Francisco Giants turn to rookie starter Chris Heston for Wednesday’s series finale against the host Arizona Diamondbacks, who avenged a season opening loss with Tuesday’s 7-6 victory. Heston is set to make his second career start in place of Matt Cain, who was placed on the disabled list Monday with a strained flexor tendon.
Texas at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
Oakland’s O.co Coliseum is widely considered one of the majors’ worst ballparks, but the Texas Rangers can’t visit enough. The Rangers gave manager Jeff Banister his first major league victory Tuesday and have won eight of their last 11 games in Oakland heading into Wednesday’s matchup against the Athletics.
LA Angels at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners are expected to battle for American League West supremacy in 2015, and it may come down to which supporting cast delivers the most. Los Angeles' David Freese and Seattle's Seth Smith have been the first two to make significant contributions, and they'll try to do it again when the Mariners host the Angels on Wednesday in the rubber match of their season-opening three-game series.
San Diego at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres are a much different team in 2015 — from leadoff hitter to closer — and have already served notice to the National League West that they expect to challenge for the division title. San Diego visits the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday in the rubber match of their three-game series after Wil Myers delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 7-3 victory and Craig Kimbrel needed 16 pitches to strike out the side in the bottom half.
