Houston at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees have had nearly six months to think about what Houston Astros left-hander Dallas Keuchel did to them in the American League wild-card game. After being afforded one extra day due to inclement weather, the Yankees will finally get another chance to try to solve Keuchel when they host the Astros in the delayed opener of a three-game series on Tuesday.
Boston at Cleveland 1:10 PM ET
Fresh off a third last-place finish in four years, the Boston Red Sox went out over the winter and did something they refused to do the previous winter by shelling out big money for a free-agent starting pitcher. A scheduled opening day that included wind chills in the teens forced David Price's team debut to be pushed back a day, but he will be on the mound when the Red Sox visit the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday for the first of a three-game set.
NY Mets at Kansas City 4:15 PM ET
New York Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard ruffled some feathers when he faced the Kansas City Royals in Game 3 of the World Series, adding an element of intrigue when he opposes the world champs again Tuesday in Kansas City. Syndergaard buzzed Royals leadoff hitter Alcides Escobar with the first pitch of that start last October, prompting some sharp comments from Kansas City players at the time and some whispers of retaliation leading into the teams' season-opening two-game series.
St. Louis at Pittsburgh 7:05 PM ET
Pittsburgh acquired David Freese during the offseason to provide infield depth, but he may wind up being a key cog as the Pirates host the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday in the second contest of their season-opening three-game series. Freese, who is playing third base while Jung-Ho Kang recovers from a knee injury, made a splash in his debut with spectacular defense and a pair of hits in Pittsburgh's 4-1 victory Sunday.
Detroit at Miami 7:10 PM ET
An offseason of heavy investment is how the Detroit Tigers reacted to finishing last in the American League Central following four consecutive division titles, and the journey to validate that expenditure begins in Tuesday’s season opener at the Miami Marlins. Detroit’s 74 victories in 2015 marked its lowest total since 2005, but closer Francisco Rodriguez, left fielder Justin Upton and starter Jordan Zimmermann represent a $259.75 million investment Detroit hopes pays dividends come October.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays look to get their offense going and avoid a 0-3 start to the season when they host the Toronto Blue Jays in the third contest of a four-game set Tuesday. The Rays have dropped back-to-back 5-3 decisions to open the season while leaving 15 runners on base combined and going 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position Monday.
Seattle at Texas 8:05 PM ET
Suffice to say the Texas Rangers seek more offensive production Tuesday when they host the Seattle Mariners, who will need a better defensive effort after losing the season opener 3-2 on Monday. Texas took advantage of its only hit – a bloop single from Prince Fielder – along with three walks and two errors in a three-run fifth inning to end the Mariners’ nine-year opening-day winning streak.
San Francisco at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
Johnny Cueto makes his San Francisco debut when the Giants attempt to defeat the host Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday for the second straight day. San Francisco gave Cueto a six-year, $130 million contract in the offseason in hopes he'll form a dynamic duo with Opening Day winner Madison Bumgarner.
Colorado at Arizona 9:40 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies began the season by battering Arizona's new ace and look to do the same to the Diamondbacks' other prized addition to the rotation when the National League West rivals continue their three-game series at Chase Field on Tuesday. Colorado, which led the NL in runs scored last year and finished one homer behind Los Angeles (187) for first in that category, picked up where it left off, pounding Arizona's Zack Greinke for seven runs and nine hits - three homers - in four innings
Chi. White Sox at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
One day after being scratched from his scheduled Opening Day start due to food poisoning, Oakland Athletics ace Sonny Gray is expected to make his season debut Tuesday against the visiting Chicago White Sox. Rich Hill started in place of Gray on Monday and allowed four runs (two earned) in 2 2/3 innings as the White Sox held on for a 4-3 victory.
Chi. Cubs at LA Angels 10:05 PM ET
The Chicago Cubs face enormous expectations as the heavy favorites to win the World Series - even though they haven't done so since 1908 - as they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday in the finale of their season-opening two-game set. Chicago offered a glimpse of what it appears capable of doing on a consistent basis with a shut-down performance by reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta and plenty of offense in Monday's 9-0 victory.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
The San Diego Padres look to bounce back from their worst opening day loss in franchise history Tuesday as they continue their three-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Things can only better for the Padres, who were outhit 17-4 and dominated by three-time Cy Young award winner Clayton Kershaw in Monday’s 15-0 rout.
