Manny Machado and Franmil Reyes hit two home runs apiece -- including going back-to-back during a seven-run second inning -- to power the host Padres to a 12-2 win over the struggling St. Louis Cardinals at Petco Park on Saturday night.

Machado drove in five runs with his 18th and 19th homers of the season while Reyes' two homers (Nos. 23 and 24) were both solo shots. Fernando Tatis Jr. later hit a 440-foot solo homer, giving the Padres 16 homers during a four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, the loss was the fifth straight for the Cardinals, who have been outscored 30-10 during the skid.

Padres' right hander Chris Paddack dominated the Cardinals after giving up a game-opening homer to St. Louis lead-off man Tommy Edman on the game's fourth pitch. Paddack improved to 5-4 on the season, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in six innings.

Paddack won the matchup of two of the National League's top rookie starting pitchers, although six of the seven runs charged to St. Louis right-hander Dakota Hudson were unearned due to Hudson's throwing error.

Hudson opened his second inning by hitting Francisco Mejia with a pitch then walking Josh Naylor. Manuel Margot then hit a comebacker to Hudson, who threw wildly to second in hopes of turning a double play. Instead, the bases were loaded with no one out.

Paddack got his first major league RBI on a slow ground out to the right side on the following at-bat. After Greg Garcia struck out for the second out, Tatis and Eric Hosmer hit back-to-back RBI singles -- followed by Machado's three-run homer and Reyes' 400-foot drive to left.

Hudson (6-4) left after 1 2/3 innings, giving up the seven runs (one earned) on five hits, a walk and a hit batter. He struck out two. Right-hander Ponce de Leon followed Hudson and allowed four runs on five hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings. He gave up a two-run homer to Machado and Reyes' second homer.

Hosmer was 4-for-5 with two RBIs. Tatis fell a triple shy of the cycle and also drove in two.
