Nationals 6, Padres 0: Anthony Rendon belted a two-run homer and Nate McLouth also recorded a pair of RBIs as visiting Washington posted its fourth consecutive victory.

Wilson Ramos singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Nationals, who have captured six of their last seven contests. Tanner Roark (4-4) scattered three hits while striking out 11 over eight innings before Ross Detwiler worked a perfect ninth to complete the shutout.

Yonder Alonso, Rene Rivera and pinch hitter Tommy Medica each registered a hit for the Padres, who have dropped four of five. Tyson Ross (6-5) struck out seven but was tagged for six runs - five earned - on five hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Washington grabbed an early lead as Rendon deposited a 2-2 offering from Ross over the left-center field wall in the first inning for his ninth blast. The Nationals poured it on in the sixth, rallying for four runs to seal the victory.

Ramos delivered an RBI ground-rule double to make it 3-0 and Danny Espinosa was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in another run. McLouth followed with a single that plated two and ended the night for Ross, who lost for just the second time in six decisions.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington CF Denard Span went 0-for-4, ending his seven-game hitting streak. ... Roark improved to 2-0 against San Diego this season, allowing six hits and striking out 19 in 17 total innings. ... The Padres have scored a total of nine runs in five meetings with the Nationals this season.
