White Sox 6, Tigers 4: Marcus Semien hit a grand slam with two outs in the seventh inning as visiting Chicago rallied.

Rookie Jose Abreu homered in the first inning for the second straight game while Paul Konerko had three hits for Chicago. Andre Rienzo (1-0) yielded four runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings and Matt Lindstrom retired Alex Avila on a liner to first with runners at second and third in the ninth to earn his third save in six opportunities.

Austin Jackson hit a two-run homer, J.D. Martinez also drove in a pair as part of Detroit's four-run fourth and Victor Martinez had two hits, including the 1,500th of his career. Drew Smyly struck out seven while yielding two runs and six hits in six innings before the White Sox loaded the bases in the seventh against Evan Reed (0-1).

Konerko led off the seventh with a single and with one out, Alejandro De Aza singled and Tyler Flowers walked. Ian Krol relieved Reed and got Jordan Danks on a foul pop before Semien ripped a 3-1 offering to left for his third home run of the season and first career grand slam.

Leury Garcia (two hits) singled with one out in the first and Abreu followed by crushing a 2-2 fastball out to center. The Tigers went ahead in the fourth as Don Kelly walked and Miguel Cabrera singled, and Martinez delivered a two-run single two batters later before Jackson deposited the next pitch over the wall in left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Konerko's single in the first was his 2,300th career hit and his double in the eighth gave him 3,950 total bases, passing Hall of Famer Frank Thomas (3,949) for most in franchise history. ... Abreu, who has seven home runs and 21 RBIs, is 9-for-20 with three homers and seven RBIs in his last five games. ... Martinez, who hit .251 with 24 homers and 126 RBIs in 899 at-bats over three seasons in Houston, hit 10 homers in 17 games with Triple-A Toledo prior to his call-up Tuesday.
