Orioles 4, Rays 1 (2nd): Nelson Cruz launched his 25th homer and Nick Hundley hit his first while Chris Tillman pitched eight strong innings as host Baltimore earned a split of the day-night doubleheader.

Hundley finished with two hits and two RBIs, Adam Jones went 4-for-4 and Cruz recorded a two-run blast as the Orioles won for the seventh time in 10 games. Tillman (7-4) allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out two before Zach Britton worked around a one-out single for his 10th save.

James Loney hit his fourth homer and Evan Longoria collected three hits for the Rays, who have dropped eight of 10 to the Orioles in 2014. Juan Carlos Oviedo (3-3) gave up one run in one inning to take the loss after starter Jake Odorizzi yielded one run on six hits and four walks in five frames.

Loney belted a 2-2 pitch just over the right-field wall in the second and the Orioles tied it in their half of the inning on Hundley’s RBI single. Baltimore also left the bases loaded in that frame and did the same in the fifth after Odorizzi retired the final two batters, including his sixth strikeout.

Hundley slammed Oviedo’s second pitch high and just inside the left-field foul pole to lead off the sixth for a 2-1 edge. Jones led off the seventh with a double and trotted home when Cruz hammered a Joel Peralta pitch way over the right-field wall to keep pace with Toronto’s Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Abreu of the Chicago White Sox for the major-league lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Rays’ pitchers combined for seven strikeouts and have 259 overall in June, passing Cleveland (253 in 1964) for the major-league record in June and tying the franchise mark for any month. … Hundley is 5-for-11 in the last three games he has played. … Tampa Bay SS Yunel Escobar missed his third straight game with a sore right shoulder.
