Padres 4, Diamondbacks 3: Tommy Medica drilled a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning as visiting San Diego defeated Arizona.

Medica went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and capped his fine outing with a two-out liner off Evan Marshall (2-1) that barely cleared the wall in left field. Everth Cabrera and Cameron Maybin had two hits apiece as the Padres recorded 10 overall.

Kevin Quackenbush (1-1) recorded four outs and Huston Street sailed through a perfect ninth for this 15th consecutive save this season. Arizona starter Wade Miley struck out a career-high 11 but remained saddled with a 1-6 lifetime mark against San Diego.

Martin Prado homered in the second to give Arizona an early lead before San Diego struck for three runs on five hits in the third. Chris Denorfia hit a tying single to center, Chase Headley delivered a run-scoring base hit to left and Medica capped the uprising with a line RBI single to right.

Miguel Montero drilled a run-scoring double to right-center field in the sixth and Gerardo Parra knotted the contest in the seventh with an RBI single. Miley allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: San Diego starter Eric Stults allowed three runs and five hits in six innings. … The homer allowed by Marshall represents the first earned run he’s yielded in nine major-league outings. … Padres C Yasmani Grandal departed in the seventh with an apparent left hand injury after being called for catcher’s interference while Paul Goldschmidt swung late at a pitch.
