Padres 9, Giants 3:
Chris Denorfia, Jesus Guzman and Jedd Gyorko each homered and Eric Stults tossed seven strong innings as visiting San Diego powered past San Francisco.

Stults (11-13) yielded three runs without issuing a walk for San Diego, which won for the second time in eight games at AT&T Park this season. Denorfia gave the Padres a quick lead when he homered on the second pitch of the game off Yusmeiro Petit (4-1), who surrendered five runs on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings.

Hunter Pence blasted a two-run shot in the third to put the Giants ahead 3-1 before the Padres answered with four runs on six straight hits with two outs in the fourth. Petit retired 11 in a row before Chase Headley sparked the rally with a two-out double.

Tommy Medica battled Petit in a 14-pitch at-bat before delivering an RBI single, and Guzman followed with his ninth homer into the left-field seats. Alexi Amarista and Chris Robinson added consecutive singles and Stults capped the rally with a run-scoring single.

Pence, who agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract extension prior to the game, homered for the second straight contest. His 27 homers are a career high and the most by a Giants player since Barry Bonds had 28 homers in 2007.

Gyorko blasted a two-run homer in the ninth, when San Diego drew clear with four runs on six hits. Medica and Guzman had three hits apiece for the Padres, who finished with 16 hits and won for the fourth time in their last six games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: San Diego set a season high with its six straight hits in the fourth inning. … Angel Pagan went 3-for-5 for the Giants, who loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth before Nick Vincent struck out pinch-hitter Brandon Belt to end the game. … Giants RHP Guillermo Moscoso will start Sunday’s season finale in place of RHP Matt Cain, who is being rested after throwing 184 1/3 innings.
