Angels 8, Rangers 4:
Albert Pujols homered twice and Peter Bourjos and Mark Trumbo also went deep as Los Angeles powered past host Texas.

Pujols hit a two-run blast in the first and added a solo shot in the sixth for his 45th career multi-homer gamer. Trumbo also hit a two-run shot in the opening inning as the Angels staked Tommy Hanson (1-0) to a four-run lead before he took the mound.

Hanson allowed three runs and six hits in six innings in his first start with Los Angeles after being acquired from Atlanta in the off-season. Rangers starter Matt Harrison (0-2) gave up five runs and eight hits in five innings.

Mitch Moreland and Ian Kinsler hit solo homers off Hanson in the third to pull Texas within 5-2. Bourjos and Pujols each clubbed homers in the sixth to get the Angels’ lead back to five.

Former Texas standout Josh Hamilton went 0-for-4 and struck out twice and is 1-for-20 in five games with the Angels. He is hitless in eight at-bats with four strikeouts in the series in his first action against the Rangers since leaving as a free agent after last season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hamilton said his wife had to call security prior to Friday’s series opener due to obscenities and insults being hurled at her and the family’s four children. … Texas OF Nelson Cruz homered in the ninth for his lone hit after having multi-hit outings in each of the first four games. … Pujols served as the designated hitter due to persistent foot pain. He became the first American League player and third overall to hit two homers and be issued three intentional walks in the same game. He also passed Stan Musial and Willie Stargell – who each hit 475 – on the all-time homers list and stands 28th with 477.
