Indians 3, Blue Jays 0: Nick Swisher and Michael Brantley had run-scoring singles to back six shutout innings from Ubaldo Jimenez as host Cleveland silenced Toronto in the series opener.

Jimenez (7-4) scattered five hits while walking a pair to win his third straight decision. Cody Allen and Joe Smith each tossed a scoreless inning of relief while Chris Perez worked around a pair of singles in the ninth for his 10th save.

Toronto starter Josh Johnson (1-4) was the hard-luck loser, limiting Cleveland to two runs on three hits over seven strong innings.

After going the first three innings without a hit, Cleveland finally converted against Johnson in the fourth. Asdrubal Cabrera drew a leadoff walk, advanced on Jason Kipnis' single and broke the scoreless deadlock on Swisher's RBI single to right field.

Brantley followed by lacing a sharp single to right that bounced in front of Toronto outfielder Jose Bautista, doubling the lead and giving Jimenez more than enough support. The Dominican right-hander worked out of jams in the fourth and fifth innings and departed after throwing 60 of his 105 pitches for strikes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cabrera added some insurance with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly, his first RBI in six games. ... Jimenez improved to 3-0 in his last six starts despite not reaching the seventh inning in any of them. Tuesday's win marked his longest appearance since an eight-inning stint June 1 against Tampa. ... Cleveland's victory evened the all-time series at 191 wins apiece.
