Braves 9, Rockies 8 (10):
Andrelton Simmons delivered a run-scoring triple in the 10th inning as host Atlanta blew a pair of one-run leads after rallying from a five-run deficit to move nine games ahead of Washington in the National League East.

After Dan Uggla walked to lead off the 10th, Simmons crushed an 0-2 pitch into the gap in left-center against Edgmer Escalona (1-4) to easily score Uggla. Chris Johnson, Simmons and Uggla drove in two runs apiece while Scott Downs (1-0) - acquired earlier in the day - pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings.

Carlos Gonzalez returned after missing three games with a sprained right middle finger and tied a career high with five hits, including an RBI single in the ninth inning against Jordan Walden to tie the game at 8. Wilin Rosario had three hits for Colorado, which fell 6 1/2 games behind Los Angeles in the NL West.

The Rockies took a 5-0 lead with three runs in the third inning, highlighted by Michael Cuddyer's two-run triple. The Braves answered with six runs in the bottom half as Johnson's two-run double highlighted a frame helped along by third baseman Nolan Arenado's fielding error, which led to three unearned runs.

Arenado made partial amends with a solo homer over the left-field wall to lead off the fourth inning and DJ LeMahieu scored on a wild pitch later in the frame to give Colorado a 7-6 lead. Atlanta answered in the fifth when Uggla drove in a run with a double and scored two batters later on Joey Terdoslavich's single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Braves starter Brandon Beachy, making his first major-league appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2012, yielded seven runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings. Colorado's Jorge De La Rosa, who underwent Tommy John surgery in 2011, allowed eight runs (five earned) and 10 hits in five frames. ... Craig Kimbrel, Atlanta's regular closer, was unavailable after saving three straight games over the weekend. ... LHP Downs was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels for Triple-A RHP Cory Rasmus. The 37-year-old recorded a 1.84 ERA in 43 games (29 1/3 innings) with the Angels this season with left-handers hitting .196 against him.
