Royals 4, Orioles 3:
Eric Hosmer went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as Kansas City won in Baltimore for the first time in its last six tries.

Hosmer’s bases-loaded single off Pedro Strop (3-2) snapped a 3-3 tie in the eighth, helping the Royals snap a three-game skid. Jonathan Broxton worked around a leadoff hit in the ninth for his ninth save in 11 chances.

Chris Davis and J.J. Hardy homered for the Orioles, who led 3-0 until the Royals scored single runs in the fifth through eighth innings.

Hosmer’s RBI single broke the shutout in the fifth, and Billy Butler homered to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the sixth. Hosmer scooted into second base with an 85-foot double after the Orioles waited in vain for his dribbler down the third base line to go foul and Humberto Quintero followed with another double in the seventh to tie it.

Orioles star Adam Jones extended his career-high hitting streak to 17 games with a third-inning triple, then scored on Matt Wieters’ sacrifice fly.

Baltimore starter Wei-Yin Chen went six innings, allowing two runs, but the bullpen could not hold the lead. Royals starter Felipe Paulino lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits but issuing five walks.

Greg Holland (1-2) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to get the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Royals OFs Alex Gordon and Jarrod Dyson collided on a third-inning fly ball that Gordon caught. Dyson limped off with a right hamstring contusion and was replaced by Mitch Maier. … Baltimore fell to 16-4 in its last 20 games against the AL Central. ... Baltimore leads the majors with 72 home runs.
