Pinch hitter Kyle Farmer hit a two-out, two-run double in the ninth inning Tuesday to give the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Tuesday afternoon's game was rescheduled from Monday night after rain and a failing bank of lights at Wrigley Field forced the postponement of the series opener. It's the first of seven games to be played between the two teams in a span of 10 days.

The Dodgers were 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position before Farmer pulled a Justin Wilson pitch down the left field line and into the corner. Austin Barnes and Justin Turner both scored to put the Dodgers ahead for the first time since the second inning.

The Dodgers' Joc Pederson led off the game with a home run, his ninth of the season and eighth in June, as the Dodgers won for the 12th time in 15 games this month.

The Cubs fell to 14-1 since May 27 when scoring at least two runs.

Cubs starter Tyler Chatwood gave up one run on two hits over five innings, with five walks and six strikeouts. It was the ninth time this season Chatwood walked at least five batters. Wilson (1-2) gave up two hits and a walk in his one inning of work.

Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda lasted just 3 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on five hits. He also walked five with a pair of strikeouts.

Left-hander Edward Paredes (2-0) recorded one out in the eighth inning to pick up the victory. Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 18th save in 20 chances.

Kris Bryant gave the Cubs a 2-1 lead in the second inning, sending a bases-loaded ground-rule double just inside the foul line in left field. The ball hopped into the field-level seats. Bryant entered 3-for-26 in his previous seven games.

Anthony Rizzo became the 10th Cubs player since 1920 to collect an RBI in 10 consecutive home games and the first one to do it since 1943. His RBI single in the fourth inning gave the Cubs a 3-1 lead.

The Dodgers received a scare in the fourth inning when Chris Taylor was hit in the back of the helmet by a Chatwood pitch. He remained in the game and tripled in the sixth inning, scoring on a double by Yasiel Puig to cut the Dodgers' deficit to 3-2.

Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp and manager Dave Roberts were ejected after the top of the fifth inning by home plate umpire Tripp Gibson for arguing balls and strikes. Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal was ejected by Gibson for arguing balls and strikes one batter before Farmer's go-ahead hit.
