Kyle Schwarber and Anthony Rizzo homered during a five-run second inning Saturday afternoon, and Cubs relievers retired 10 straight Padres to end the game as Chicago held on for a second straight game to defeat San Diego 5-4 at Wrigley Field.

Walker Lockett (0-2) allowed six hits and all five runs in the Cubs second to take the loss. In the other four innings he worked, Lockett allowed no runs on three hits and two walks.

With the wind blowing out, Schwarber opened the second with his 20th homer of the season, a full-count line drive to right-center to break a scoreless game.

Ian Happ followed with a single and was still at second with two out when he scored on Addison Russell's single. Rizzo then homered in a second straight game, his drive to center making it 4-0. Rizzo homered on a 3-and-1 pitch.

Ben Zobrist followed with double and scored the fifth run on Jason Heyward's single.

The Padres battled back from the 5-0 deficit after going hitless through the first three innings against Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks, who got the win to improve to 8-9.

Travis Jankowski opened the fourth with an infield single and moved to second on Hendricks' throwing error. Jankowski scored on Manuel Margot's ground rule double. Margot then moved up to third on a ground out to the right side and scored on Hunter Renfroe's sacrifice fly to left.

Austin Hedges followed with his second homer of the series - the Padres' won the series opener behind Hedges' three-run homer Thursday night - and his third in his last eight games to close the score to 5-3.

Eric Hosmer singled off Hendricks with one out in the sixth, moved to third on Renfroe's double and scored on Hedges' sacrifice fly to right. Renfroe was the last Padres batter to reach base.

Steve Cishek retired all four Padres he faced and struck out the side in the seventh. Right-hander Brandon Kintzler worked a perfect eighth and Pedro Strop, who struggled Friday, worked a perfect ninth to get his seventh save and second in as many games.

Hendricks allowed four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
