SAN FRANCISCO -- Jake Peavy helped his own cause with a two-run single while limiting the Miami Marlins to two runs in seven innings Saturday night, lifting the San Francisco Giants to a 7-2 victory.

Matt Duffy had three hits, including two off Marlins starter Jose Fernandez, helping the Giants rebound from a four-game home sweep at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks with a second consecutive win over the Marlins.

The Giants scored two runs in each of the first, fourth and seventh innings, with Peavy doing the damage in the fourth with his third hit of the young season.

Gregor Blanco tripled twice and scored after each, and Denard Span and Joe Panik also each had two of the Giants' 13 hits.

Fernandez (1-2), who had allowed two runs and six hits in his previous two starts, was roughed up for four runs and seven hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out five in his first career start at AT&T Park.

Fernandez did have two singles among the Marlins' seven hits against Peavy (1-1) in his seven innings.

Winning for the first time after allowing 14 runs in 14 innings in his first three starts, Peavy walked one and struck out four.

Blanco's triples came against the Miami bullpen, which was blasted for three runs and six hits in two innings.

Kelby Tomlinson, pinch-hitting for Peavy, drove in Blanco in the seventh and later scored on Panik's second hit.

Blanco scored in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Angel Pagan.

Justin Bour had three singles for the Marlins. Christian Yelich walked and singled, reaching base safely for a 16th consecutive game this season.

The Giants, who had supported Peavy with 11 runs in the 14 innings he pitched in his first three starts, got started quickly with two more in the first.

After one-out singles by Panik and Duffy, Buster Posey opened the scoring with an RBI single. It was just the third hit in Posey's last 18 at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Brandon Belt made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly, scoring Duffy.

The Marlins threatened to get even in the third after Marcell Ozuna tripled home Fernandez with two outs. But Peavy protected a 2-1 lead when he got Yelich on a slow roller to the right of the mound, a ball on which the veteran pitcher made a sliding play and strong throw to get the inning-ending out.

After Peavy had padded the lead with his two-run single, the Marlins again used a powerful hit -- this one an RBI double by Derek Dietrich -- to draw closer in the sixth. But Peavy again avoided a big inning, stranding Dietrich in scoring position by getting Adeiny Hechavarria to fly out, preserving a 4-2 lead.

NOTES: The game matched Marlins RHP Jose Fernandez, who took the mound ranked sixth in the National League in strikeouts with 27, against a Giants team that began the day as the hardest in the National League to strike out, with just one every 6.16 plate appearances. ... The Giants also took the field having hit .314 in their eight wins and .197 in their 10 losses this season. ... LF Christian Yelich is attempting to become the second Marlins' player in the last two years to hit .400 in April. He came to the plate for the first time Saturday hitting exactly .400. Marlins 2B Dee Gordon parlayed a .406 April into an NL batting title (.333) last season. ... The Marlins placed 3B Martin Prado on the paternity list, which allowed them to call up LHP Cody Ege from Triple-A New Orleans. Prado flew back to Miami from San Francisco on Friday to attend the birth of his child.
