ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Carlos Correa's sacrifice fly scored Jason Castro from third base in the top of the ninth inning, breaking a tie and helping lift the Houston Astros to a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night at Angel Stadium.

The Astros rallied in the later innings after falling behind 2-0 through six innings. Mike Trout scored both runs for Los Angeles, hitting a solo homer in the fourth inning and scoring from second on a C.J. Cron single after reaching on a double in the sixth. Trout also had a double in the eighth.

The Astros put together their winning rally in the ninth when Castro hit the first pitch of the inning by Fernando Salas for a double. A walk to George Springer and a single by Luis Vabuena loaded the bases for Jose Altuve.

Salas was able to get Altuve on a fly ball to shallow right field, with the runners unable to move up. But Correa hit one deep enough, the ball caught by right fielder Kole Calhoun next to the short wall near the foul pole, and Castro scored easily.

The Astros added a second run in the inning when Springer scored on a wild pitch.

The Angels, though, made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth against Astros reliever Will Harris.

Johnny Giavotella struck out to start the inning but reached first on a wild pitch. Jefry Marte and Daniel Nava followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases with nobody out.

Harris struck out Jett Bandy for the first out, then got Andrelton Simmons to hit into a 1-2-3 double play to end it, picking up his seventh save of the season.

It was the Astros' eighth win in their last nine games, and the Angels lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Angels starter Matt Shoemaker had yet another solid start, throwing six scoreless innings. Shoemaker has a 1.87 ERA in his last eight starts but only one win during that stretch after another no-decision on Monday.

Astros starter Colin McHugh also had a no-decision after giving up two runs and six hits in six innings.

The Astros' best chance of scoring against Shoemaker came in the sixth when, in fact, they actually did score before having the run taken off the board.

Valbuena led off with was originally ruled a home run. But Angels manager Mike Scioscia convinced the umpire crew to initiate a review of the play, claiming the ball hit the yellow line atop the right-field fence and did not go over it before bouncing back onto the field.

After a review of 1:33, the homer was changed to a double.

Shoemaker, though, still had work to do with the heart of the Astros order due up. He got Altuve on a pop to first before hitting Correa with a pitch on a 3-2 count.

But Shoemaker got out of the jam by striking out Colby Rasmus and then A.J. Reed, both on split-finger pitches.

The Angels added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth, putting together a rally with one out. Trout got it started with a blooper that fell just inside the right-field foul line. Springer overran the ball and it appeared Trout had an easy triple.

But Trout tripped over second base and went into a headfirst slide. He had to get up and retreat to second base.

It didn't cost the Angels, though, because Albert Pujols walked and Cron follow with an RBI single to score Trout and make it 2-0.

A wild pitch allowed Cron and Pujols to move up to second and third before Giavotella hit a rocket that appeared headed to left field. But Valbuena made a diving stop at third base, popped up and threw out Pujols at the plate for the second out of the inning.

McHugh struck out Marte to end the inning.

With Shoemaker out of the game to start the seventh, the Astros got on the scoreboard against Angels reliever Mike Morin.

Carlos Gomez reached on an infield single and Evan Gattis followed with a bloop single to center, sending Gomez to third. Morin struck out Castro for the first out as pinch-runner Jake Marisnick stole second.

Springer then got jammed but was able to muscle the ball toward second base. Shortstop Andrelton Simmons made a barehanded grab and threw out Springer as Gomez scored to make it 2-1.

Morin walked Valbuena, bringing up Altuve, but Scioscia went to the bullpen again and summoned reliever Deolis Guerra. Altuve, an MVP candidate, hit a line drive off the third baseman Marte's glove, the ball going into left field for an RBI single and tying the score at 2.

The Angels had three hits and a walk in the first three innings, but nothing to show for it because McHugh got a double play in all three innings. Two of them resulted from an infield grounder and the third came on a strikeout-caught-stealing double play.

The Astros also had runners early against Shoemaker, getting four hits -- all singles -- in the first three innings. Shoemaker, though, also worked his way out of trouble, particularly in the third when the Astros had runners on first and third with two outs and Carlos Correa at-bat.

Correa hit a bullet that Marte scooped up at third before making the throw to first for the final out of the inning.

In the fourth, Shoemaker got his first 1-2-3 inning, and in the bottom of the inning, the Angels scored their first run on Trout's leadoff homer, his 17th home run of the season, for a 1-0 lead.

It was the third consecutive game that Trout homered.

NOTES: The Angels claimed RHP J.C. Ramirez off waivers from the Reds on Sunday and activated him before Monday's game. He was 1-3 with a 6.40 ERA in 27 games for Cincinnati. In order to make room for Ramirez on the roster, the Angels sent RHP A.J. Achter to Triple-A Salt Lake. Achter was 0-0 with a 3.98 ERA in 12 games for the Angels. ... Astros RHP Lance McCullers has a blister on the tip of the index finger on his right (pitching) hand and will not make his start as scheduled on Tuesday. RHP Scott Feldman will pitch in place of McCullers, who will make his next start either on the weekend against the White Sox or on Monday against the Mariners. ... Angels 3B Yunel Escobar (bone bruise on left knee) was not in the starting lineup for the fourth straight game. INF/OF Jefry Marte started in his place. ... Astros RHP Will Harris has allowed 21 hits in 32 2/3 innings over 32 games this season, all 21 hits being singles.
