CINCINNATI - If not for an injury to teammate Jeremy Hellickson, Chase Anderson would've been pitching at the Triple-A level this weekend. Instead, less than two days after being sent to Reno, Anderson was recalled by the Arizona Diamondbacks and given a reprieve.

He made good on that opportunity Sunday by pitching 6 2/3 shutout innings and leading Arizona to a 4-0 win against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Catcher Wellington Castillo and left fielder David Peralta hit home runs as the Diamondbacks completed their first-ever four-game road sweep of the Reds and moved above the .500 mark (62-61) for the first time since April 22.

It was the second time this month that Anderson outdueled Reds rookie Raisel Iglesias, who struck out 13 and allowed just three hits in seven innings. As good as Iglesias was, Anderson was better in raising his record to 6-5 on the season. He allowed the Reds just five hits and only three runners to reach past first base.

Anderson was optioned to Reno after giving up five runs in 4 2/3 innings in a 9-8 loss at Pittsburgh on Aug. 18. He was recalled on Aug. 20 because of a hamstring injury to Hellickson.

"We got a happy flight," said Arizona manager Chip Hale. "That was the theme of the day. It was a hard-fought victory. Iglesias threw very, very well against us but our guys fought him. ... I'm very proud of them. He's not an easy guy to face. We knew it going in that he was going to be a challenge and Chase met that challenge."

The victory was the 31st road win of the season for the Diamondbacks, equaling their total from last season.

The loss was the ninth in a row for the Reds, equaling their season high and dropping them to 20 games under .500 at 51-71.

Iglesias' strikeout total was the most for a Cincinnati rookie since Gary Nolan struck out 15 against San Francisco on June 7, 1967. His record dropped to 3-5 on the season but Sunday's showing continued a strong stretch for the Cuban right-hander. In his last five starts covering 32 2/3 innings, Iglesias has allowed just seven earned runs (1.93 ERA) on 16 hits but he is just 2-3 in those games.

One of those starts came on Aug. 7 in Phoenix when he allowed just one run on three hits in six innings against the Diamondbacks. Anderson was his opponent that game, too, and topped Iglesias by going seven innings in a 2-0 Arizona win.

"I didn't know about the strikeout record. I feel good with that achievement," Iglesias said through interpreter and assistant trainer Tomas Vera. "I tried to keep the same pattern I did in Arizona. Today I was trying to attack them and stay ahead of the hitters. My changeup has been a lot better the last two games."

Iglesias struck out six of the first 13 batters he faced before Castillo homered two rows deep into the left field stands with two outs in the fourth inning. It was his ninth home run in his last 20 games and his 14th since Arizona acquired him from Seattle on June 3.

The Diamondbacks made it 2-0 in the sixth inning when the Reds committed two throwing errors on one play. Left fielder Ender Inciarte walked to lead off the inning and stole second base with one out. First baseman Paul Goldschmidt grounded to the right of his Reds counterpart Joey Votto. Votto got to the ball but his throw to Iglesias covering the bag was off stride, allowing Goldschmidt to reach. When the ball bounced off Iglesias' glove, Inciarte headed for home.

Iglesias recovered but his throw to the plate was high and went off the glove of leaping catcher Brayan Pena.

"We're playing hard and sometimes our players are going to hit home runs and sometimes we're going to have to hustle to get some runs," Inciarte said.

Anderson left the game after giving up a two-out double to Skip Schumaker in the seventh inning. Addison Reed relieved Anderson and got Ryan LaMarre to line out softly to second base.

Peralta added his 13th homer of the season in the top of the eighth inning off of Cincinnati reliever Jumbo Diaz. Goldschmidt was on board for the two-out shot to straight-away center field.

"Raisel did a great job. Unfortunately, we didn't get any offense," said Cincinnati manager Bryan Price. "Pitchers get that 'L' next to their name but this game has to be played selflessly. What he did was set up the bullpen for tomorrow."
