PHOENIX -- On a day that Arizona celebrated Hall of Famer Randy Johnson, right-hander Rubby De La Rosa brought his power arm and competitive instincts to the party.

De La Rosa gave up four hits in eight scoreless innings in the Diamondbacks' 2-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday night, striking out six and walking two. His 100th pitch, a fastball to strike out left fielder Gerardo Parra in the eighth inning, was clocked at 97 mph.

"We've seen the 96-98 (mph) stuff, but when it's 92-94 and he's down, he gets a lot of ground balls," Arizona manager Chip Hale said. "He used his change effectively and used the high fastball at times to strike guys out. He wanted the ball in the eighth, which impressed me."

Hale visited the mound after De La Rosa's one-out walk to catcher Jonathan Lucroy in the eighth, and De La Rosa (8-5) got out of the inning.

"As I was walking out there, I wanted to look into his eyes and see what I saw, and talk to (catcher Welington) Castillo," Hale said. "Both of them were very positive, felt very good about getting the outs they needed. So I just tapped him on the chest and said you got it."

De La Rosa had 15 ground-ball outs, including a double by by Lucroy after Brewers right-hander Taylor Jungmann and Parra opened the third inning with singles.

"I felt good in that inning and I wanted to get these guys," De La Rosa said of the eighth. "I want to finish my innings, and he had confidence in me."

Arizona got all the runs it needed in the first inning. Left fielder Ender Inciarte doubled to lead off but was picked off second base by Jungmann before center fielder A.J. Pollock walked.

First baseman Paul Goldschmidt doubled off the base of the right-field fence with one out to drive in Pollock, and after Castillo was hit by a pitch with two outs, third baseman Jake Lamb singled in Goldschmidt for a 2-0 lead.

Goldschmidt leads the majors with 74 RBIs.

Right-hander Brad Ziegler gave up two two-out singles and walked pinch-hitter Khris Davis in the ninth before striking out left fielder Gerardo Parra for his 16th save as the Diamondbacks (45-51) won for the third time in 12 games.

"He threw a nice back-door slider to Gerardo." Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said of Ziegler. "We gave ourselves a chance."

Milwaukee (43-55) got only three runners as far as third base while losing for the third time in their last four games.

Lamb had two hits -- the only player on either side with more than one.

De La Rosa pitched before a festive crowd of 34,957. Randy Johnson bobbleheads were distributed before the game, and Johnson's career highlights were shown on the center field video board between innings. Johnson will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Sunday.

Jungmann (5-2) gave up four hits and two runs in six innings while striking out seven and walking four. The rookie threw a career-high 107 pitches in his ninth major league start.

"I'm not happy with the entire outing because the first inning was a little frustrating," said Yungmann, who has made five straight quality starts. "I think early I was a little timid. I felt like I had to rely on the off-speed today more than I have. I was lucky to get out of there with only two runs, not being able to command the fastball at all."

NOTES: Brewers 1B Adam Lind was removed in the second inning with back soreness, and he will not play Sunday, Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said. ... X-rays were negative on Arizona C Welington Castillo, hit on the left elbow with a pitch in first inning, the Diamondbacks said after the game. Castillo remained in the game, his first start after missing four with a sore hamstring. ... Brewers RHP Wily Peralta will be activated from the disabled list for a Tuesday start in San Francisco, Counsell said. With RHP Kyle Lohse scheduled to start Monday, the Brewers will go with a six-man rotation for the immediate future, Counsell said. Peralta, 1-5 with a 4.00 ERA, has been on the disabled list since May 15 because of a strained oblique. ... Arizona C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (neck) has played two games in the rookie Arizona League and, barring any setbacks, will be activated Monday, the first day he is eligible to return from the disabled list, manager Chip Hale said. Arizona is likely to carry three catchers, Hale added.
