Royals 10, Giants 0: Yordano Ventura gave up three hits in seven innings and Lorenzo Cain went 2-for-3 with three RBIs as Kansas City routed visiting San Francisco to even the World Series at three games apiece.

Eric Hosmer continued his strong postseason with two hits, including a two-run double in a seven-run second inning. Mike Moustakas homered among two hits while Alcides Escobar, Omar Infante and Salvador Perez also had two hits apiece as the Royals finished with 15 overall.

Ventura (1-0) struck out four and overcame five walks as Kansas City recorded the largest shutout victory in World Series play since the 1985 Royals posted an 11-0 win in Game 7 over St. Louis. Giants starter Jake Peavy (1-2) lasted just 1 1/3 innings and was charged with five runs and six hits.

Kansas City erupted in the second inning, beginning when Moustakas slammed an RBI double to right. Nori Aoki singled in a run to end Peavy’s night and Cain greeted Yusmeiro Petit with a two-run single, Hosmer followed with a two-run double and Billy Butler concluded the uprising with a booming double.

Cain delivered a run-scoring double in the third to make it 8-0 and Escobar recorded an RBI double in the fifth. Moustakas smacked his fifth homer of the postseason with a blast to right off Hunter Strickland in the seventh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hosmer has 20 hits in the postseason, tying the franchise mark set by Willie Wilson (1985). … Strickland is the first reliever to give up six homers in a single postseason. … Kansas City had seven extra-base hits – one homer and six doubles.
