Rangers 5, Blue Jays 1: Yu Darvish matched a season high with 12 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings while J.P. Arencibia belted a three-run homer and scored twice as visiting Texas halted its eight-game losing streak.

Darvish (9-5) rebounded from one of his worst starts of the season by yielding a run on five hits and three walks. Adrian Beltre added a solo shot and Rougned Odor contributed an RBI triple among his three hits for the Rangers, who avoided their longest skid since 2003 with only their fourth victory in 26 games.

Colby Rasmus, who closed the first half in a 2-for-23 slump, joined Munenori Kawasaki with two hits apiece and accounted for Toronto’s offense with a home run to right-center to lead off the seventh inning. R.A. Dickey (7-10) fanned seven in as many innings but lost for the sixth time in his last seven outings after surrendering five runs on six hits.

Neither team was able to get a baserunner past second until the fifth, when Beltre drove a chest-high 3-1 knuckleball from Dickey just over the fence in left-center to begin the frame. Arencibia was hit by a pitch three batters later and Odor ripped a liner into the gap in right-center to drive home only his second run in the last 24 contests.

Arencibia, who was promoted from the minors Thursday and making his major-league debut at first base, continued to make his presence felt in the seventh as he followed consecutive one-out singles by Jake Smolinski and Leonys Martin with a three-run blast to left. Rasmus ended the shutout bid in the bottom half, but Neal Cotts and Joakim Soria wrapped it up with 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Beltre moved past Gary Gaetti (2,282) and into sole possession of third place in major-league history for most games played at third base. … Texas is 6-14 against American League East opponents, with the resulting .300 winning percentage serving as the worst mark by an AL club against a division. … Rasmus went 2-for-3 against Darvish and is 7-for-15 lifetime versus the three-time All-Star.
