Rays 7, Blue Jays 2: Evan Longoria blasted a three-run homer and Chris Archer threw six solid innings as host Tampa Bay earned a split of its season-opening four-game series with Toronto.

Archer (1-0) scattered four hits while walking a pair and striking out seven for the Rays, who haven't lost a home series to Toronto since April 2007. Longoria finished with two hits while his 163rd career homer moved him into a tie with Carlos Pena for the franchise record

Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow (0-1) was tagged for four runs on seven hits over five innings, walking one and striking out four. The loss dropped Toronto to 0-19-2 in its last 21 series at Tropicana Field.

With Tampa Bay already leading 1-0, Desmond Jennings extended the Rays' advantage in the third with a run-scoring double to left and came around on Ben Zobrist's single to right. The Rays tacked on another run on a James Loney double-play grounder, but Toronto responded with a pair in the fourth on Dioner Navarro's sacrifice fly and Brett Lawrie's infield chopper that scored a hustling Adam Lind all the way from second base.

Archer settled down after the shaky inning, retiring six of the final seven batters he faced before giving way to the bullpen. Longoria put the game away in the seventh, belting an Esmil Rogers offering over the left-field wall for Tampa Bay's first home run of the season.
