Giants 7, Pirates 5: Joe Panik scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball in the seventh inning as host San Francisco avoided a three-game sweep against Pittsburgh.

Gregor Blanco went 3-for-3 with two RBIs while Pablo Sandoval had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored as the Giants snapped a six-game slide. Tim Lincecum allowed five runs in 3 1/3 innings but five relievers combined for 5 2/3 scoreless frames, with Jean Machi (6-0) grabbing the win and Santiago Casilla earning his eighth save.

Josh Harrison homered for the fourth straight contest and Jordy Mercer added a two-run blast for the Pirates, who dropped to 3-3 on their road trip and fell two games behind first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central. Justin Wilson (3-2) allowed two runs in his lone inning of relief to suffer the loss after Charlie Morton yielded four runs in five frames.

San Francisco put two on with one out in the seventh before Blanco squirted a first-pitch fastball through the right side to score pinch runner Juan Perez with the tying run. Catcher Chris Stewart could not corral Wilson’s fastball five pitches later, allowing Panik to score from third, and Sandoval tacked on an RBI single in the eighth to provide some breathing room.

The Giants loaded the bases on a pair of singles and a walk in the first inning before pushing three runs across on an infield single, a bases-loaded walk and a single to left as Morton struggled to settle in. Pittsburgh grabbed a run in the second and tied it up on Harrison’s two-run blast in the third before taking a 5-4 advantage in the fourth when Mercer found the front row in left off Lincecum.

Lincecum has been knocked around for 11 runs and 14 hits in 7 2/3 innings in two outings after yielding a total of four runs in his previous five starts. …Giants C Andrew Susac recorded his first major-league hit in the fourth with an RBI single to left. … Pittsburgh heads for the final series of its 10-game road trip at Arizona on Thursday while San Francisco gets the day off before opening a 10-game trip at the New York Mets.
