Mariners 3, Athletics 2: Robinson Cano ripped the go-ahead RBI double in the sixth and Felix Hernandez tossed eight solid innings as host Seattle snapped a three-game skid.

Logan Morrison launched a solo homer in the second inning and Endy Chavez added a sacrifice fly in the third for the Mariners, who have won six of the 11 meetings with the major league-leading Athletics. Cano also singled to lead off the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak against Oakland to 19 games.

Stephen Vogt belted a solo homer to increase his hitting streak to 11 games for the Athletics, who suffered their second loss in nine outings. Jed Lowrie added an RBI single in the first inning en route to his sixth multiple-hit contest in his last seven outings.

With the score tied 2-2, James Jones ripped a double to left with two outs in the sixth and Cano followed suit by jumping on a first-pitch cutter from Jeff Samardzija (3-8) and sending it down the left-field line. Hernandez (11-2) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out nine before Fernando Rodney stranded Derek Norris on third for his 27th save.

Samardzija suffered the hard-luck loss after permitting three runs on five hits in eight innings. The 29-year-old fell to 1-1 with Oakland since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hernandez extended his team record to 11 consecutive starts of at least seven innings while allowing two or fewer runs - the longest single-season streak since Houston's Mike Scott (12) in 1986. ... Oakland 1B Alberto Callaspo exited the contest after straining his right hamstring. ... Athletics OF Coco Crisp missed his second straight game with a sprained ankle.
