Nationals 5, Phillies 3 (10): Ryan Zimmerman delivered a two-out RBI single in the 10th inning as Washington snapped host Philadelphia's five-game winning streak.

Zimmerman singled to center against Jake Diekman (3-3) to plate Denard Span from second base and Jayson Werth scored moments later on a wild pitch for the Nationals, who were 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position prior to Zimmerman's hit. Werth homered and drove in three runs, Ross Detwiler (1-2) worked a perfect ninth and Rafael Soriano struck out the side in the 10th for his 22nd save.

Marlon Byrd recorded two hits and two RBIs while Ben Revere went 2-for-4 and plated a run for the Phillies, who were seeking a season-best sixth straight victory. Cole Hamels tossed seven solid innings, yielding three runs and four hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Washington took the lead just three batters into the game, as Span drew a leadoff walk, went to third on Anthony Rendon's double and scored on a groundout by Werth. Philadelphia had opportunities to get back the run in each of the first two innings, but Stephen Strasburg struck out both All-Star Chase Utley and Ryan Howard with a runner on third base in the first before fanning Hamels with two on and two out in the second.

Werth dealt another blow to his former team in the sixth, following Rendon's leadoff walk by depositing a 2-2 fastball over the wall in right field for his 11th blast and a 3-0 advantage. Byrd closed the gap with a two-run single in the bottom of the inning and Revere forged a tie with an RBI base hit in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Nationals SS Ian Desmond returned to the lineup and went 2-for-5 after missing Friday's game with a right thumb injury. ... Washington C Wilson Ramos went 0-for-4, ending his career-best hitting streak at 14 games. ... Strasburg lasted only 5 2/3 innings but struck out nine while allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks.
