Pirates 6, Phillies 2: Jeff Locke scattered three hits over eight strong innings and Russell Martin ripped a two-run double as host Pittsburgh completed its first sweep of the season.

Andrew McCutchen had an RBI triple among his two hits to improve to 11-for-21 in his last five games for the Pirates, who have won 12 of their last 15 overall. McCutchen joined Josh Harrison by scoring twice and Starling Marte had an RBI single as Pittsburgh swept visiting Philadelphia for the first time since April 19-21, 2002.

Marlon Byrd belted a solo homer for the second straight contest and added an RBI single for the reeling Phillies, who have dropped nine of their last 10 outings. Fellow former Pirate A.J. Burnett (5-8) permitted three runs on five hits and struck out seven in as many innings to take the hard-luck loss.

Philadelphia scratched for a run in the top of the first before Martin erased the deficit by ripping a 3-2 fastball from Burnett to right field to plate McCutchen and Neil Walker in the bottom of the frame. Walker wasn't done as his sacrifice fly to shallow center scored Harrison, who tripled to lead off the third.

Byrd trimmed the deficit in the seventh by depositing a curveball from Locke (2-1) into the seats in left for his team-leading 18th homer. McCutchen answered with an RBI triple and scored on Marte's single to highlight a three-run eighth before Jared Hughes retired the side in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Burnett received a warm ovation upon taking the mound in the first inning from the faithful at PNC Park. The veteran right-hander posted a 26-21 mark in two seasons (2012-13) with Pittsburgh. ... The Pirates placed Clint Barmes on the 15-day disabled list and recalled fellow INF Michael Martinez from Triple-A Indianapolis. Barmes injured his groin during batting practice on Saturday. ... Pittsburgh opens a seven-game road trip to conclude the first half of the season when it begins a four-game set in St. Louis on Monday. Philadelphia wraps up its 10-game road trip by opening a four-game series in Milwaukee on Monday.
