Yankees 5, Rays 1 (12): Dean Anna drew a tiebreaking bases-loaded walk in the top of the 12th inning and Carlos Beltran followed with a two-run single to help visiting New York outlast Tampa Bay for a split of the four-game series.

A walk, a single and an intentional walk loaded the bases with two outs in the 12th for Anna, who checked his swing on a 3-2 offering from C.J. Riefenhauser before Beltran greeted Josh Lueke with a base hit to center to make it 4-1. Alfonso Soriano followed with another run-scoring hit for the Yankees, who bounced back from a 16-1 loss Saturday night.

Brett Gardner had an RBI double and scored the go-ahead run for New York, which got five solid innings from fill-in starter Vidal Nuno and two more scoreless frames from winner Preston Claiborne (1-0), who was recalled from the minors before the game. James Loney had two hits and scored on Matt Joyce's sacrifice fly in the seventh to lead a meager six-hit attack for the Rays, who had five home runs among 16 hits the night before.

Soriano doubled to begin the fourth and Gardner drove him in with a drive off the top of the right-field wall that was initially ruled to be the final out of the inning. Replays clearly showed the ball bounced into Wil Myers' glove and New York was given a 1-0 lead.

Two singles and an error loaded the bases for the Rays in the seventh before Joyce - who was hitting for catcher Ryan Hanigan - lofted a fly ball to right to score Loney with the tying run. Tampa Bay starter Cesar Ramos nearly matched Nuno, giving up a run and four hits while fanning three in five frames, while Heath Bell (0-1) got the loss after walking the leadoff man in the 12th.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira went 2-for-6 after being activated from the disabled list prior to the game. ... New York RH Ivan Nova, who left Saturday's game in the fifth inning, was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an elbow ligament tear. ... Both teams have Monday off before the Yankees open a three-game series at Boston while Tampa Bay hosts Minnesota for three.
